Marlon Wayan’s ex-girlfriend, Brittany Moreland, dropped a child custody case she filed against him over their daughter, Axl July Ivory Wayans. According to court documents, obtained by TMZ, Brittany filed papers to dismiss the child custody case.
In her original court filing in March 2024, Brittany asked for primary custody of Axl. She also demanded $22,000 a month in child support. But Marlon pushed back and asked for joint custody of Axl. The “Scary Movie 6” star said he voluntarily pays Brittany $18,000 a month for the now 3-year-old girl.
In an interview with The Shade Room in 2024, Marlon called Brittany “entitled” and said Axl is not a secret. He called out women like Brittany who use a child for a paycheck.
“All these women having to drag men to court who pay NOTHING towards their children. And here, a woman gets a doctor’s salary and says it isn’t enough? I’ve had two children before this. I’ve never had this problem. I’m a good man with a good heart and strong sense of responsibility, but I refuse to be used and discredited.”
The father-of-three continued: “All love, all GOD. The baby isn’t a secret. The mama has been posted. I chose to keep the baby’s private life private. Ain’t nobody’s business. Social media is toxic and dangerous and I’d like to keep her peace.”
In addition to Axl, Marlon is father to Kai Zackery Wayans, 26. Kai (left) is Marlon’s first child from his long-term relationship with Angela Zackery (they split in 2013 after 21 years together). They also share 21-year-old son Shawn Wayans (pictured right).
Marlon’s support for Kai, a female-to-male transgender, earned him praise from the LGBTQ+ community. They say he’s setting a great example for parents of transgender children.
Marlon said he went from “ignorance and denial” to complete love and acceptance of Kai’s transition. He also discussed his child’s transition on his comedy special, “Rainbow Child” in 2024. “It’s about my daughter that transitioned into a son,” Marlon said of Kai.
“My daughter Amai is now Kai and so I talk about the transition – not her transi-, his, their transition – but my transition as a parent going from ignorance and denial to complete unconditional love and acceptance. And I think there’s a lot of parents out there that need to have that message and I know I’m dealing with it. It was a very painful situation for me, but man it’s one of the best funniest hours I probably could ever imagine.”
