Reality TV alumni Karlie Redd learned the hard way that reality shows are a dead end for aspiring films stars.
Unfortunately for Karlie, director Tyler Perry has strict standards, and he will not lower them for her.
“I went for a role for a Tyler Perry film and they shot me down because I was on ‘Love & Hip Hop,” Karlie told KYSDC.com. She added: “Reality TV has been known to have a lot of drama, but like NeNe [Leakes] said, ‘it also has been a blessing.'”
By “blessing,” Karlie surely means the fact that she is now getting paid to read scripts on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Everyone knows reality stars do not get paid in their first season — which explains why they seem so hungry and desperate to please the producers.
Karlie, who is a 40-something single, said this isn’t the first time her reality show pedigree has cost her a better paying role.
“There’s been roles that I auditioned for and then they found out,” she said. “Literally I’m on my way to the set to work, got the role and everything and then they find out I’m on the show and then they’re like, ‘Uh, no.'”
