Movie and television magnate Tyler Perry is calling on the media to show “some decency” to Bobbi Kristina Brown and her family.
Perry made his plea in a Facebook post. His statement comes just one day after a hearse showed up outside the Duluth, GA. hospice where Brown lays in a vegetative state after being taken off a ventilator 3 weeks ago.
The news media speculated wildly that the hearse meant Brown had passed away, even though she isn’t the only patient at the hospice facility.
“They find it OK to speak death onto those who are still alive,” Perry wrote. “May I ask you all to please show some decency and respect? Not only to Krissi’s family, but also to the other families that are there in this place. Not only is Krissi at the center but there are several other families who are grieving the loss of their loved ones at the same time. It’s heartbreaking to think that even in a time like this, this child is still not allowed any peace.”
He continued:
“… as difficult as this time is for the people that love both Whitney [Houston] and Krissi, what makes it more egregious is the blatant disrespect, lies, and ignorance that are rapidly printed in this awful time…. For some reason, it has become human nature in our society to look for, seek out, and celebrate darkness, glory in tragedy, and enjoy reading and reporting it. It makes me sad to know that everybody wants to be the first to report something awful.”
Perry isn’t just a casual observer. He is a longtime friend of both the Houston and Brown families.
“I assure you, the family will issue an official statement if something changes,” Perry wrote. “Until then, can we just pray for Krissi, and the Houston and Brown families?”
Brown spent 5 months on life support after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Roswell home on Jan. 31.
The family denied rumors that Perry and billionaire TV magnate Oprah Winfrey paid for a private air ambulance to fly Brown to Chicago to see neurosurgeons for a final opinion before moving her to hospice last month.
