Matt Barnes Drove 95 Miles to Fight Derek Fisher Over Gloria Govan

Memphis Grizzles player Matt Barnes reportedly drove 95 miles to confront his former teammate, Derek Fisher, over allegations that Fisher slept with Barnes’s estranged wife, Gloria Govan.

No, it wasn’t a scene from an upcoming reality TV series. This foolishness really happened. Those Govan sisters have a knack for attracting emotionally troubled men.

The Grizzlies are currently in Los Angeles for the preseason as well as the New York Knicks, who are coached by Fisher. While at practice, Barnes was alerted that his former Laker teammate was in his Los Angeles house, with his wife, having a bonfire with a few friends.

Once Barnes was informed of the situation, he immediately left practice and drove 95 miles to confront Fisher about the ordeal.

Eyewitnesses say that there was a physical confrontation, but for the time being, Fisher does not want to press criminal charges.

I get the feeling that Matt already had a conversation with Gloria and set up some boundaries, one being to NOT deal with any former team mates. I don’t condone the spitting or fighting, but him spitting in her face was a sign of disgust. Although he may not like her dealing with other men, I think that it being a former team mate and someone he felt he was cool with or close to, set him off. Derek needs to put himself in Matt’s shoes and think of how he would feel if Candace slept with a former team mate. Matt Barnes punched Derek Fisher in the mouth with a closed fist during their melee in L.A. this past weekend — and only stopped fighting when one of Matt’s kids begged them to stop … a witness tells (a site that shall remain nameless).

We spoke with a family member who was at the home when the incident went down … and we’re told Barnes was heated from the moment he walked in the door and saw his former Lakers teammate in the home.

We’re told Barnes berated Fisher for dating his estranged wife Gloria Govan — saying he felt disrespected because they’ve been good friends for years. The witness says Barnes made it clear he felt betrayed by Fish.

Fisher stood up to Barnes and an argument broke out — the witness tells us Barnes threw a punch that hit Derek square in the mouth.

We’re told Derek fought back and “was holding his own” — until several people, including Gloria, rushed in to try to break it up.

But the fighting didn’t stop until one of Matt’s children came into the backyard and begged the men to stop fighting. We’re told that pretty much ended things.

Matt eventually left the home. We’re told both men were bleeding from the scrap.

We reached out to both Barnes and Fisher for comment. No word back.

Barnes just addressed the incident during a Grizzlies workout session — calling the whole thing a “personal matter” and saying hes going to let the “legal process” take place.

Matt also said he and Derek were good friends at one point — but clearly, that friendship is over.

Now, Candace Fisher has filed court docs of her own — telling a shocking tale of a husband that not only surprised her by bailing on the marriage … but freezing her out of his life almost immediately.

According to the docs, Candace says Derek refused to answer her calls and texts for nearly two weeks … and even blew off their kids for several days.

Candace says she finally went to their NY apartment the week of March 30th … only to find that all of Derek’s clothing, personal items and computers had already been removed from the home.

There’s more … Candace also says Derek now wants to keep their 8-year-old twin boys in NY to live and attend school — despite the fact she says all of their family, friends and schoolmates are in L.A.
