Lamar Odom suffered a setback on Thursday. The NY Daily News reports that the 35-year-old former LA Laker underwent 2 emergency procedures on his chest.
Odom was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia earlier this week. Aspiration pneumonia is a bacterial infection of the lungs that occurs when someone inhales (aspirates) stomach contents (vomiting) or other fluids.
A major complication of aspiration pneumonia is empyema, a secondary infection of the fluid in the space between the outer lining of the lungs and the lining against the chest wall (see image).
Maybe the chest surgery was to place a chest tube or some other type of chest drainage.
He also could have undergone surgery to create a semipermanent hemodialysis vascular access for daily dialysis treatments.
Odom’s doctors banned all visitors from his room except the vulture, Khloe Kartrashian.
If Odom’s pneumonia has worsened, the less visitors breathing over him, the better.
The news of Odom’s setback comes as Dennis Hof, the owner of the Nevada brothel where Odom overdosed on cocaine, is threatening to sue Odom and Khloe for the $75,000 he says Odom owes his hookers.
Hof says he wishes Odom a speedy recovery but his prostitutes want to be paid for services rendered.
Hof said Khloe’s people are asking a lot of questions about the charges.
“They’re requesting the credit card slips and asking, ‘Did he sign them?’ I sent them his driver’s license, the slips, some other stuff,” Hof told the Daily News on Thursday.
“I have no problem filing against her or him. Khloe, she’s the wife. They’re responsible for their debts. Why are they calling me? They need to do the right thing and pay.”
Hof added: “The girls want to get paid, and I want to get paid.”
On Wednesday, Khloe’s attorney asked a judge to dismiss her and Odom’s divorce case.
An insider told Us Weekly magazine, “[Khloe] loves him so much, and she takes their wedding vows — for better or worse, in sickness and health — extremely seriously.”
But according to gossip mongers, Khloe is still texting and calling NBA star James Harden, as if their separation is only a temporary inconvenience.
