A Mexican citizen who was wanted in connection with the murder-for-hire of Dallas dentist Kendra Hatcher was captured in Mexico.
Brenda Delgado, 33, was arrested by Mexican authorities in Saltillo 2 days after she was placed on the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted fugitives list. The dental hygienist fled to Mexico six months ago to avoid arrest as the mastermind behind Hatcher’s murder.
Delgado had attempted to alter her appearance by gaining weight and dyeing her brunette hair blonde.
She is charged with capital murder and a federal charge of flight to avoid prosecution.
Hatcher, 35, was shot to death in September 2015 after she pulled into the parking garage of her Dallas apartment complex.
Authorities believe Delgado arranged for Hatcher’s murder because she was jealous of the dentist’s planned trip to Mexico with Delgado’s ex-boyfriend, a Dallas dermatologist.
Delgado’s two co-conspirators — Crystal Cortes, left, and the triggerman, Kristopher Love, were arrested in 2015. They are being held without bond.
“The FBI is extremely appreciative of our law enforcement partners in Mexico, as well as our local, state, and federal partners, for their tremendous cooperation and collaboration in the capture of Top Ten Fugitive Brenda Delgado,” said Thomas M. Class, Sr., Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Dallas Field Office.
Mexico won’t extradite a citizen to the U.S. unless the death penalty is taken off the table.
Delgado faces life in prison if convicted.
She was only the 9th female to be added to the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted fugitives list since it was created.
