It’s been a tough few months for late night TV host Larry Wilmore. First CNN blacklisted him, and now his ‘Nightly Show’ on Comedy Central has been canceled.
Wilmore made headlines in May after he called the president of the United States a “nigga” during Barack Obama’s final White House Correspondents Dinner.
The comedian was criticized for referring to the outgoing president as “my nigga” during his standup routine at the dinner.
Wilmore also provoked indignation from CNN for mocking anchors Wolf Blitzer and Don Lemon.
During the immediate fallout, CNN canceled Wilmore’s appearance on Lemon’s nightly show.
Comedy Central president Kent Alterman said the decision came down to poor ratings.
“Unfortunately, it hasn’t connected with our audience in ways that we need it to,” Alterman told The Hollywood Reporter.
Maybe Wilmore’s homie, Obama, can get him a job at the White House?
