An adult toy often used by sex workers is the key to helping Knicks star Derrick Rose win a rape case.
The woman, identified in court records as “Jane Doe,” is suing Rose and another man for $21 million.
Doe accused Rose and several friends of breaking into her apartment and gang raping her in 2013.
She claims she woke up one morning to find her bedroom in disarray with used condoms littering the room.
But Rose’s lawyer argues that Doe was the “sexual aggressor” that night. He claims the woman consented to sex and he says she even brought a “sex belt” with her.
The sex belt has bars or straps on it so men will have a better grip during sex.
Prior to the night in question, Rose allegedly asked the woman to participate in a foursome with his friends and the girlfriend of one of his boys.
Rose admitted asking the woman for a foursome with 2 male friends and the girlfriend of one of his friends.
“If it would have turned into (a foursome), yes, (it) would have been cool,” Rose said in a deposition.
Rose said he later sent a cab to pick up the woman and her girlfriend to transport them to a hotel room.
Rose asked Doe to purchase the sex belt which she brought with her.
In court filings Doe admitted she brought the sex belt with her at Rose’s request.
“You told her to get it? Is that what you said?” the lawyer asked him. “Yeah,” Rose responded.
“And did she ask you to pay her money for buying it?” the lawyer added.
“I think it was — we both understood that I was going to give her something for the belt,” Rose responded.
After Doe claims she was gang raped, text messages exchanged between Rose and Doe showed she mentioned the sex belt numerous times.
She even provided Rose with her bank wire information so he could reimburse her for the sex belt (see highlighted areas).
Days after the alleged rape, Doe reportedly complained to her roommate about not being reimbursed for the belt or the taxi ride.
Doe’s former roommate claims the woman told her she was angry and needed to find a lawyer.
In court documents, Rose admitted he was a man with a healthy sex life that regularly included orgies.
He said his life “includes lots of companionable sex with his friends and an assortment of women” and he is “confident” that he will prevail when the case goes to trial on Oct. 4.
