Police in Roseville, Michigan, arrested 2 teenagers who terrorized children by wearing creepy clown costumes and wielding knives.
Bond was set at $10,000 each for Roseville residents Elandra Sledge, left, and Jaime Salinis, both 18.
The teens were arraigned on Friday in District Court where their next hearing was set for Oct. 20.
The teenagers are accused of scaring two 14-year-old girls by lunging out of a car at them and chasing them down a street.
Police quickly responded to the scene and observed “two idiots” dressed as clowns.
The police report described Salinis and Sledge as “morons,” who were quickly apprehended after a brief foot chase.
Salinis and Sledge told arresting officers that they “thought it was funny to terrorize unsuspecting pedestrians,” police said.
Their $10,000 bonds must be paid in cash or property of equal value. There is no 10 percent bond option.
They face up to 90 days in jail or a $500 fine.
The news media has fueled the national clown hysteria by reporting random sightings of clowns as serious news rather than the silly pranks that they are.
