School disavows any knowledge of professor
A newly-hired professor who was set to teach a Beyonce studies class at Montclair State is back on the unemployment line. Kevin Allred was set to begin teaching a class called “politics of pop culture and Beyoncé Knowles” at Montclair State.
According to Hotair.com, on July 28, Allred tweeted that he wished someone would assassinate President Trump. He deleted the tweet after actress Lori Petty and others advised him to.
Allred later told his nearly 7,000 Twitter.com followers that the tweet cost him his job at Montclair.
“[S]o FYI… Montclair State has fired me before I even started teaching there. congrats to the Trump trolls. but you’re still not special,” he tweeted on his now private account on Tuesday.
But Montclair acted quickly to distance the school from the unemployed professor.
“Kevin Allred has never been an employee of Montclair State University, is not one at this time, and the University has not made any formal offer of employment to him,” the school said in a statement to the NY Daily News.
Hotair.com noted a link on Montclair’s website that led to Allred’s biography profile. But the school says that the now-deleted profile was a mistake.
“Posting Mr. Allred’s information to our website was an error made by a University employee,” a school spokeswoman told the News. “We were made aware of the error and corrected it.”
But Allred, who is openly gay, provided another media outlet with emails from the school that proves he was set to teach a “politicizing Beyonce” course as well as a gay studies class at the school.
Rutgers also terminated Allred after he made “extreme statements” about President Trump, whose election on Nov. 8th drove Allred over the edge.
The NYPD was called to Allred’s home in November after the professor, who taught women and gender studies at Rutgers, posted a series of threatening tweets about Trump and his supporters.
The Daily News reports that Allred threatened to run Trump supporters off the road.
Allred was taken to Bellevue hospital in New York City, where he underwent a 2-hour psych eval and was released.
Rutgers gave Allred his walking papers soon afterward.
