Fans of TV personality Wendy Williams were shocked when she appeared to pass out earlier today on the set of her popular daytime talk show.
In a statement after the show, Wendy said she overheated in her Statue of Liberty costume. But some skeptics questioned whether she really fainted or if she pulled a stunt.
Most celebrities pull stunts to boost TV ratings or to increase album sales, but Wendy’s talk show is syndication through 2020. So she doesn’t need a cheap stunt to boost her ratings.
Syncope is the medical term for fainting spells. Syncope is a sudden loss of consciousness with a spontaneous recovery, not to be confused with a seizure.
Syncope can be caused by dehydration, medications, and overheating. But usually not in an air conditioned studio.
Alcoholism is another known factor for syncope or fainting spells.
Hopefully Wendy is OK.
