Meek Mill’s fans who believed the troubled rapper would be released from prison soon were disappointed to learn his new bail hearing was due to a clerical error.
On Friday, media outlets claimed Philadelphia Common Pleas Court Judge Genece Brinkley had agreed to hold a bail hearing for the rapper while his lawyer appeals his 2-4 year prison sentence.
But a court clerk apparently scheduled the new bail hearing by mistake.
Earlier reports stated Judge Brinkley had agreed to hold a hearing on petitions filed by Mill’s attorneys. The hearing was set for Nov. 27.
“It was a clerical error,” explained Philadelphia courts spokesman Gabriel Roberts to Philly.com on Friday after the Nov. 27 date was set — and then deleted from the court docket.
According to Philly.com a court clerk saw the bail motion under Mill’s given name of Robert Rihmeek Williams, and scheduled the new bail hearing. The clerk apparently did not realize that Williams and the rapper were one and the same.
“Corrective Docket Entry — Bail Hearing listed for 11/27/2017 was scheduled in error,” read the entry on the case docket late Friday.
According to Roberts, Judge Brinkley schedules her own hearings — and she has not scheduled any hearings for Mill.
Mill’s lawyer asked Judge Brinkley to recuse herself amid an ongoing FBI investigation into alleged collusion between her and a local rival music executive.
