Suffice it to say Russian President Vladimir Putin is not a fan of rap music. Putin made it clear that he does not approve of rap music which fuses hard beats and rhymes to produce a simplistic art form.
Putin declared that rap (and all its derivatives) are based on “sex, drugs and protest,” that will ultimately lead to the “degradation of the nation.”
Putin revealed his feelings about rap music after the November arrest of Russian rapper Husky, who was charged with disturbing the peace after performing an impromptu rap concert on the roof of a car.
Cellphone video obtained by The Guardian newspaper shows 2 Russian cops snatching Husky down off the car as a large crowd surrounded them and jeered at the cops (see video below).
Husky’s rap music reportedly irritates Putin who wants to ban rap music in Russia, but realizing that’s impossible, he wants to control it.
Putin said, “If it is impossible to stop, then we must lead it and direct it.”
Legendary American rapper Kurtis Blow said Putin should “rethink his policy” and that his policy will “fuel the fire of the resistance in his country.” Blow also said the Russian people “don’t want to be silenced.”

Rap music now a days is fun to listen to, well some songs anyway… But I do believe it adversely affects young people who don’t have a good support system. It definitely glorifies drugs, hoes, robbing folks, doing uncolorful things and being a trash person. I don’t think it should be banned though.

There is an entire spectrum to the genre. Takes a while to get up to speed so I’ll give you the cliff notes. There are subsections to the genre of rap ie -gangster rap, trap music etc. Within those groups it further breaks down to other subgroups such as conscious rappers. I suppose one could attempt to debate who has had it worse, but I would argue 1) I’d rather be black American in the USA right now than in Russia and 2) very few problems throughout the histories of Russia, black Americans or Africans can be blamed on rap music. In fact, the origins of rap can be linked to the historical problems of black Americans.
I had edited my post because I didn’t want to be perceived and insulting you. But “Russia” was also a mish mash of different tribes that consolidated its self and came to the brink of destruction during World War Two and 30 million Russians where killed there is know country on earth that could withstand those numbers and be and still remain a super power… and Russia is a very xenophobic place they don’t take kindly to other races And homosexuals. The first country to send a man into outer space also I say Russia is thriving compared to vast majority of countries in the world and also on the verge of domination of the Middle East and Africa with chinas help
