What began as a fun summertime activity for inner city kids to interact in a positive way with local cops has turned into a political minefield.

President Donald Trump and other lawmakers accused urban teenagers of “assaulting” police officers with water guns.

Viral videos show kids and young adults in NYC and Atlanta dousing police officers with water guns. One video shows a young Black man pouring water on 2 cops. One cop is seen smiling as he walks away.

This activity isn’t new. It’s a summertime tradition that most police officers participate in as part of their police department outreach efforts.

The NY news media describes the playful activity as “water ambushes” and “brazen water bucket attacks” on cops.

Leave it to politicians and liberals in the news media to turn good clean summertime fun into a coordinated attack on the police simply because the teens wielding the water guns and water buckets are Black.

In a tweet on Thursday, President Trump called on NY Mayor Bill de Blasio to arrest a man who doused a police with water while he was arresting another youth.

“We love our Law Enforcement Officers all around this great Country. What took place in NYC with water being tossed on NYPD officers was a total disgrace. It is time for @NYCMayor @BilldeBlasio to STAND UP for those who protect our lives and serve us all so well…”

Trump urged the mayor to take immediate action against the teens.

“What took place was completely unacceptable, and will not be tolerated. Bill de Blasio should act immediately!”

One young man was arrested Thursday as the result of the public uproar.

On Tuesday former Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Mayor de Blasio pointed the finger of blame at each other in tweets.

“This disrespect for the uniform in NYC is result of a Democrat-Progressive (Retrogressive)-Socialist Mayor,” wrote Giuliani in an early morning tweet. “This is what happens with knee-jerk disrespect for police. It will only get worse until these Left wing idiots are defeated.”
