Not too long ago I saw a top 5 list of the worst uses of a sample in Hip Hop music. Every track on the list was Knaye West’s, lol.
Anyway, if someone comes up with a new list of worst samples in Hip Hop, I’m sure Bow Wow’s track “Sunshine” will make the top 10. Shad posted his new no-budget video for “Sunshine” on his YouTube channel over the weekend.
The “You’ve got” refrain you hear repeated throughout the track was lifted from Nancy Sinatra’s 1966 classic “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’ “. I don’t get it.
It’s actually not bad sampling and looping of the original track and it’s ad lib vocals especially for this type of rap song.
Although I don’t use samples when producing, I find Shad’s track worth the salt and would play it in the car and while working.
shad moss still has a very intense following. all of the girls who used to come out for the scream tours when they were 12-13 are now in college. and they still listen to him. this is gonna be a hit.
On Blackberry so I can’t listen to give my opinion on the song BUT I could think of quite a few examples of worse use of a track than anything from Kanye. Who’s list are you referring to Sandra? I’d like to see it.
Kanye West samples are NOT on that list and if they are ther are HATING on my baby…. and who cares about that little peanut head boi
Actually the song is hawt. Sandra, you are older than 100% of the people that are bow wow fans. 90% of the people that follow him don’t know who nancy sinatra is and didn’t know that the beat was even sampled. With that said, I like his use of it better than these boots are made for walking. For someone who you claim is irrelevant, you have done quite a few stories on him here lately……
it’s iight..but they could have done the song without the sample and had the same effect..
