Jennifer Lopez’s manager, Benny Medina, didn’t come out and say that his client has an Addictive Personality, but that’s what he meant when he told Vogue magazine that Lopez has never maintained a healthy relationship with a man.
“Medina says the Bronx-born bombshell was on “fertile ground” when she fell head over heels for her backup dancer, Casper Smart, shortly after her divorce from Anthony last July,” according to the NY Daily News.
“The thing that I always sort of wished is that she would give herself time to just naturally meet someone, instead of having obsessive guys pursue her,” said Medina, who was once a jheri-curl wearing member of a popular 1970s boy band.
“The ease with which that obsession becomes a relationship I think sometimes works against her ability to have a real meaningful relationship,” said Medina.
Medina compared Lopez’s “obsession” with relationships to her work ethic — “She never half does anything. When she commits to anything in her work, her life, or her relationships, she is in it,” he told the magazine.
But Medina should know that women who have addictive personalities tend to “love hard.” These women crave that intense high that they get from the dopamine rush — which they confuse for love.
In this case, J-Lo and Casper are no different from a couple who get high off coke together. It’s that same rush, but without the devastating physical effects of cocaine addiction.
It’s interesting that Medina blames the “obsessive guys” who pursue J-Lo, instead of placing the blame where it really belongs.
If Medina read my blog he would recognize the signs of an addictive personality — a woman (like J-Lo) who easily “falls head over heels” with a man right after a break up with another man, is addicted to the Dopamine rush that she feels when she’s attracted to someone or something new.
Women like J-Lo actually begins pursuing other men at the first hint of problems in her current relationship. This is done to ensure that her dopamine supply never runs low.
I discuss Dopamine addictions and addictive personalities on my blog and on my Twitter page often, because I want people to recognize these personality types like Lopez, and to avoid them if possible, because your relationship will not end well.
