President Barack Obama is expected to make a statement endorsing gay marriage in America. Obama sat down with ABC’s Robin Roberts today — one day after North Carolina voters passed a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages and unions in that state.
The residents of North Carolina spoke with one voice, but Obama is expected to condemn their decision by speaking out against the amendment.
In his statements today, the president is expected to cave under pressure from special interest groups and gay rights organizations in an effort to win re-election.
Update: Here is the statement that Obama made endorsing gay marriage just moments ago during an interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts.
OBAMA: I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married.

The president stressed that his statements were his own personal opinion, and that he would leave it up to individual states to pass their own same sex legislation.
He said his own daughters, Maliah, 13, and Sasha, 11, were “comfortable” with concept of same sex marriage.

I recently say a graph that represented the entire United States and where support for gay marriage is strongest. It is very strong in the North East, but not so much elsewhere.

… but the other day I saw a big stud in a white tee being really rough and mean with her lady’s 4 kids (boy/girl combo), like in a way that would just seem like a dad after a long day if it were their father. I live in Charlotte and im indifferent about this. Being a Christian I know its wrong, but WHO am I to sit here and say someone does not have the right to be happy. ALL I know is white people did this to slaves. Our people were not legally able to get married, which is why they jumped the broom and now whites are trying to take the same rights away from another group of people. Just like they made hispanics in Arizona show green cards, they made our people show their freedom papers….. I am not anti gay marriage or pro gay marriage. I am pro happy and anti glass house rock throw. As EVERY one knows my mother married her wife last year and they are really in love and happy. It was new for me but as my mother I respect her and love her and respect her choice. We worship in the same church every Sunday and Wednesday. She never said her choice was right nor is she a radical gay trying to force gay is the way. What I like and admire the most is that they are good for and two each other. They serve each other, they pray together and happiness makes the world go round so I say make love not war. There are no big sins nor little sins as all sins weigh the same. President Obama won a lot of the independent voters and some of the Christian vote too (not a lot) but when you couple this with some of the other issues that has plagued his tenure as president, I don’t see this being positive for him.
A lot of the religious folk had reservations about Romney because of his mormon faith but I’m sure this will drive any and all of them to vote for Romney.

An argument between two South Carolina men over which one of them “can have the most sex” ended Sunday with a stabbing, police report:
Calvin Bernard Hill, 54, was arrested on a felony battery charge following an altercation in the back of a PT Cruiser being driven by a female acquaintance of the duo. According to a Greenwood City Police Department report, Hill stabbed the 41-year-old victim in the ribs after they left a party.
Interviewed at the hospital, the victim–whose name was redacted from the police report–said that “he and Mr. Hill got into a verbal altercation about who can have the most sex.” A “tussling match” ensued and he ended up being stabbed, recalled the victim, who was initially found bleeding profusely by a cop identified as “Captain Morgan.”
The driver told police that Hill threw a knife away after the incident and stated, “I can’t go down for this.” When questioned by a cop, Hill denied stabbing the victim, claiming “that man stabbed his self.”

When I was 6 I moved to GA and stayed there until I left after college. I must say that the South has very traditional ideas about marriage (I’m sure other places do too) and it is there (and from my parents brain-washed ideals)… where I picked up the philosophy that having ‘sugar in your tank’ was a sin…. 17 years later, I have lived in 7 different northern cities and abroad and met a beautiful rainbow collection full of different people with different paths in life and philosophies. I know that I was brainwashed when I was younger…into believing the BS lies about how gays can be cured, that it was a sin to do xyz and there were plenty of assumptions about how ‘they’ were raised to make them that way or what they daddy or mommy did or didn’t do right.
Marriage can be full of shyt even with straight people. PEOPLE cheat, lie, steal, beat the living crap out of, and more to other PEOPLE. Gay people didn’t start to tear at the foundation of family structures. PEOPLE did. Gay people didn’t create rapist, murderers, torturous situations… PEOPLE did. I’m glad he is taking a big chance and standing up for what is right. Hell, anyone should have the right to be miserable in a marriage (recognizing that not all marriages are so)… but why reserve it for only straight people? Those so-called tax benefits should be given to anyone whose willing to commit. Those medical insurance FAMILY policies should be afforded to those who are just that… Families…
Not too long ago,LAW dictated that women shouldn’t vote or have decent careers. Not too long ago when my daddy told me stories of him living in NC as a boy and you couldn’t even walk on the same side as white folks let alone drink from THEIR fountains… Separate church and state. They have no business dictating personal shyt anyhow. So I always ask other people when they say the things you did if they demand the same respect from straight people.

Don’t lump all gays into on category, I certainly am tolerant. I don’t feel the need to tell someone else how to act with their spouse, even when I don’t agree with it. I don’t agree with interracial dating, yet I don’t go around demanding that certain couples not touch one another because “kids will be confused” or I don’t agree with it.
Like I said earlier, I’m all for equal rights and treatment. I don’t expect new rules to be created because a gay family member has come out of the closet, and just like my family doesn’t have to invite me I don’t have to show up. I don’t need to kiss my spouse or hug her, but if its ok for other family members who are straight to do it it should not be a problem for me to. And if it is, be real and say the “we don’t want you to do it because we don’t like it” don’t use children as the excuse.
Children are NOT influenced by anyone in terms of sexual orientation. If this were true there wouldn’t be so many gays, because contrary to popular belief every gay person has not been sexual molested most grew up in perfectly fine and normal households.
That’s always been my one issue. I’ve never been an over affectionate person to begin with, it makes me uncomfortable to be around any couple with heavy pda or alot of it so I will not stand for it around my children.

I guess I should be happy. Obama has lost the black vote, and thus, his only hope of getting re-elected is gone.

Separation of church and state…this is all based on religion. If we use religion to make laws we need to make it illegal in all states to commit adultery, lie (not just in court or to a cop but in general), divorce, have a child out of wedlock, etc we shouldn’t pick and chose which rules of the bible we want to enforce as laws. Whether you think it ok in a religious context is one thing, but think about how your life may be affected if we started arresting people or stripping them of their rights because of the bible.

It’s true: Under article 263 of New York’s penal code, it’s illegal to create, possess, distribute, promote, or facilitate child films, but it’s not illegal simply to view it. And the evidence in the case against Marist College Professor James D. Kent consisted of images found in a Web cache on his computer when he took it in to get it scanned for viruses.
As Johnson points out, federal child films laws don’t mention browser caches, and just that evidence hasn’t been enough to win federal convictions in the past. Since he didn’t know the cache was capturing the Web content, Kent couldn’t be held responsible for collecting them, the court ruled. Because as we all learned from this ruling, simply looking at child films is legal in New York. Gross.
