A brawl at the end of Thursday night’s Brown vs Steelers game could end the NFL career of the Browns’s best defensive end, Myles Garrett.
The violent incident occurred with 8 seconds left in the game at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland on Thursday, November 14.
Garrett, considered one of the NFL’s premier defensive ends, tackled Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph, who no longer had the ball. Rudolph took exception to the late hit and gave Garrett the business.
Garrett, not wanting to injure his fist on Rudolph’s helmet, ripped the 10-pound helmet off Rudolph’s head and beat him with it.
Fans sitting at home were horrified to see a player rip a quarterback’s helmet off and swing the helmet at his head. Such a criminal act was never seen before in the annals of NFL history.
Many fans tweeted calls for police to arrest Garrett after the 23-year-old was ejected from the game.
One Twitter user said a fine and a suspension weren’t enough for Garrett’s dangerous behavior. The fan said about 6 months’ jail time was the appropriate punishment.
The Browns defeated the Steelers 21-7.
