Lizzo was forced to cancel another concert while she’s laid up at home with an upper respiratory illness which she says is the flu.
The 31-year-old pop star took to social media on Monday, asking her followers to pray for her and updating them on her condition in a series of posts.
Lizzo was scheduled to perform in Boston at the KISS 108 Jingle Ball on Sunday, and then in Hartford, Connecticut at the Hot 93.7 Jingle Jam on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
Rappers Megan Thee Stallion and Saweetie were also on the bill at the Hartford concert. But the station canceled the entire show after Lizzo backed out.
The “Juice” singer took to Instagram to apologize for disappointing her fans.
“To my Hartford fans and Hot 93.7, I am so sorry I have to cancel my performance tomorrow due to the flu,” she wrote. I hate letting my fans down more than anything. I hope that you all can forgive me while I recover and I promise we are doing everything we can to make it up to you,” Lizzo said in a statement.
She then took to Twitter.com, asking her followers to pray for her. “Trying to get better for y’all,” she captioned a video.
“Y’all I’ve never been this sick please pray for me.”
She also posted Instagram photos that showed someone taking throat and nasal cultures to test for infection.
Another photo shows a humidifier pumping mist into the air to help ease her breathing and treat congestion.
She also told her fans she had to take “2 doses of codeine” cough syrup which doctors normally prescribe to suppress a dry cough and treat a sore throat.
Codeine is a strong opioid narcotic that is often abused. It is the main ingredient in lean, a concoction mixed with Jolly Rancher candy and a soda beverage.
Later that night Lizzo let her fans know her fever was down. “Finally out the 100s! 99.9 temp ain’t bad!”
Lizzo, who was named TIME‘s Entertainer of the Year, told the magazine she was not feeling well. “I was getting sick a lot. I was like, ‘What the f— is going on? I need to fall back in love with my body.'”
She told the outlet her depression was taking a toll on her physical health and well-being.
“I didn’t feel sexy, and I didn’t know when it was going to end,” the morbidly obese singer said. “There were times when I would go on-stage and be like, ‘Y’all, I’m not going to lie. I’m not feeling myself,’ Sometimes I’d break down and cry.
“Sometimes the audience would just cheer to make me feel better,” she said.
Fans hope the “Truth Hurts” singer will recover in time for her New Year’s Eve concert at The Chelsea in Las Vegas.
