Rapper Fetty Wap‘s 4-year-old daughter, Lauren Maxwell, died from a cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) at home in Atlanta on June 24, according to a death certificate obtained by TMZ.
Lauren was born to the 30-year-old New Jersey native, Fetty, and model, rapper Turquoise Miami, on February 7th, 2017.
She was born with a congenital heart defect and had undergone open heart surgery in 2019.
Fetty and Turquoise Miami, seen together in an undated photo, waited nearly two months to confirm rumors of their daughter’s death.
In an IG post last week, Turquoise Miami shared a photo of Lauren smiling in a swimming pool. Turquoise, whose real name is Lisa, captioned the image:
“This is my amazing, beautiful, funny, vibrant, loving, talented, smart and hardheaded princess mermaid Aquarius.
If you see this post scrolling by with her comment or just say to yourself ‘i love you LAUREN’ because they say that souls can feel your love.”
Fetty Wap, real name Willie Maxwell II, followed up with a post on his IG page:
“Y’all can do me a favor? Just post all butterflies. All butterflies. [She] loved butterflies. If you guys could do that, that means a lot.”
After Fetty’s fans questioned why he waited so long to confirm the rumors about his daughter’s death, Turquoise wrote:
“It couldn’t hurt Some of y’all to be a little bit more compassionate, you don’t have to kick a man while he’s down.”
She defended the father-of-six and claimed he “improved” as a parent over the years.
“He became more financially and emotionally responsible for her. He didn’t post her the same way I didnt, because Lauren use to get a lot of disrespectful things said about her and I asked him not to [sic].”
She added:
“All that y’all need to know is Lauren loved her daddy and he loved her.
“She made him laugh with her crazy funny personality and she loved to be the center of attention and he loved to be her audience.”
Fetty dedicated his Rolling Loud performance in Miami to his late daughter in an Instagram Story: “LoLo daddy did that s*** for you last night baby girl.”
Fetty Wap is also father to five other children with multiple women. He is pictured with (L-R) Amani, 5, Aydin, 10, Zaviera, 6, and Zy, born in 2018.
He also shares daughter Khari, 5, with ex-girlfriend Masika, 34.
Fetty, who grew up without a father, is a constant presence in his children’s lives.
