A second suspect has been charged in the shooting death of a 15-year-old girl at an Atlanta area Waffle House earlier this year.
The incident happened on May 1 outside the Waffle House on the 700 block of Glenwood Avenue in the Glenwood Park shopping plaza, Fox 5 Atlanta reports.
Diamond Johnson, 15, was fatally shot when two groups of teenagers brawled outside the Waffle House in the Glenwood Park shopping plaza.
31-year-old Elizabeth Parham was arrested on May 21 and charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and first-degree cruelty to children, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.
On Monday, Oct. 25, investigators announced the arrest of 18-year-old Tariq Grier in connection with the shooting.
Grier was arrested on Oct. 18, and charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Johnson’s murder is among hundreds of shooting deaths involving young Black people in Atlanta in the year since the Covid-19 lockdowns.
Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms addressed the city-wide violence earlier this year.
“Just as we have overcome challenges in the past, Atlanta will get to the other side of this COVID crime wave and we will get this violence under control.”
