The husband of a Fulton County sheriff’s deputy has been charged with killing her and her brother during a domestic dispute.
A Newton County judge denied bond for Jaquavia Jackson, 28, who is being held in the Newton County Detention Center.
Deputy Shakeema Brown Jackson, 28, and her brother, Levoy Brown, 30, of Covington, were shot multiple times on Oct. 27, during a domestic dispute in her Covington residence.
He faces two counts each of Murder, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
A preliminary hearing is set for Dec. 1 in Magistrate Court, The Covington News reports.
The victims’ mother, Zona Inman, said Jackson told her “someone” shot and killed her children, Fox5 News reported.
Deputy Shakeema Brown Jackson was off-duty at the time of her murder. She joined the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in 2018 as a detention officer and became a deputy just last month.
Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat tells Channel 2 Action News Jackson leaves behind a 17-month-old child.
Co-workers remembered Brown Jackson as cheerful and always had a positive disposition no matter how disrespectful inmates had been.
She always greeted them with “good morning,” earning their respect, Sheriff Labat said.
“It’s a hard time for the sheriff’s office and we are asking for everyone’s prayers, continued prayers,” Labat said.
