Chicago drill rapper Lil Zay Osama, real name Isaiah Dukes, was arrested in New York for leaving a loaded machine gun behind in an Uber.
According to court documents obtained by XXL, federal prosecutors say an Uber driver picked up the aspiring rapper and his crew on Sept. 29. When Dukes entered the vehicle, the driver reportedly noticed he was holding a firearm.
The Uber driver completed Duke’s trip to Queens, N.Y., and realized that he left his firearm behind in the back seat. The driver then called police who recovered the weapon.
Police hunted Dukes down and arrested him. He had two outstanding arrest warrants, and was charged with possession of a machine gun in addition to felony possession of a firearm.
It is illegal to possess a handgun modified with a switch. Dukes, 24, is a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing a firearm.
Prosecutors cited Dukes’ lyrics in his 2021 song “Danny Block” where he references Glocks modified with switches in their complaint:
“Every day a different Glock/Pu**y boy know how I play it/I hope this song right here don’t get in the hands of the feds (Hope it don’t get to the feds, man)/Ayy, I just got a brand new Glock/With a fifty and a switch (With a fifty and a switch).”
Dukes is being held in jail without bond. He faces 20 years in prison if convicted.
What is a switch?
A switch is a small device that snaps onto the back of a handgun and converts it into a fully automatic machine gun.
Glocks with switches are the preferred weapons of gang bangers everywhere. Switches make it difficult to aim and shoot accurately. Innocent bystanders are often killed because guns with switches spit bullets in every direction.
