A true-crime sleuth on Tiktok is defending her bizarre claim that a professor is involved in the grisly murders of 4 Idaho students.
The bodies of Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Madison Mogen, 21; and Xana Kernodle, 20, and Kernodle’s boyfriend, Ethan Chapin, 20, were found in an off-campus housing near the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, on Nov 13, 2022. The victims had been stabbed to death.
So far, police have no suspects. The murders in Idaho continue to generate headlines around the world.
Ashley Guillard first mentioned Professor Rebecca Scofield as a possible suspect in a Nov. 24 TikTok video. Guillard said she saw Scofield’s involvement in the murders in her tarot cards.
Guillard defended her tarot card reading after Scofield sued her for defamation.
Guillard insists her tarot cards don’t lie. She said Scofield was in a romantic relationship with one of the victims, Kaylee Goncalves.
“I don’t care what y’all say, Rebeca Scofield killed [the victims] and she was the one to initiate the plan,” Guillard said in a TikTok video.
Scofield filed a defamation lawsuit against Guillard when she refused to take the videos down. Scofield is a professor of gender and sexuality studies at the University of Idaho.
Guillard is not intimidated by Scofield’s lawsuit, which she said the professor will come to “regret”.
Guillard told NewsNation: “When I go to court and they see the evidence or they see how I connect the dots, then they’ll make a decision as it pertains to whether they want to continue to live in blinders or believe it. If they don’t, I don’t care.”
Scofield’s attorney said: “The statements made about Professor Scofield are false, plain and simple. What’s even worse is that these untrue statements create safety issues for the professor and her family. They also further compound the trauma that the families of the victims are experiencing and undermine law enforcement efforts to find the people responsible in order to provide answers to the families and the public.”
Police say there is no evidence to tie Scofield to the murders. Officials confirmed Scofield was in Oregon at the time the students were killed.
