Former reality star James Timothy “Tim” Norman was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday, March 2.
Norman (left) was convicted last year of masterminding the murder of his nephew to collect $450,000 in life insurance benfits to pay off his IRS debt.
A federal jury convicted Norman on two counts of murder-for-hire and one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud.
Norman is the last of four people to be sentenced in the murder case.
Norman’s hitman Travell Anthony Hill, 31, pleaded guilty in June 2022 to conspiring with Norman to kill Andre Montgomery, 21 (right), on March 14, 2016.
Hill testified in court that he accepted $5,000 for his role in the murder-for-hire plot to kill Montgomery.
Former stripper Terica Ellis pleaded guilty to accepting $10,000 cash to lure Montgomery to his death, according to KSDK. She was sentenced to three years in prison.
Norman’s insurance agent, Waiel Yaghnam pled guilty in 2022 to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud. He was sentenced to three years in prison.
Norman is the son of Robbie Montgomery, who founded Sweetie Pie’s soul food restaurants in St. Louis. The family starred in a reality show produced by Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network called, “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s.”
Ms. Montgomery sobbed in court and pleaded with the judge for leniency for her son before his sentencing hearing.
