The NBA suspended Cleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson 25 games for violating the league’s anti-drug program.
According to reports, Thompson tested positive for human growth hormones, which are used to increase energy and improve athletic performance.
The hormones are routinely used by bodybuilders and athletes to build muscle.
Thompson is suspended without pay, the league announced in a tweet on Tuesday.
The suspension will cost the 15-year NBA veteran more than $726,000 of his $3.2 million salary.
After subtracting taxes, management fees, and child support for 2 children, Thompson didn’t have much left over to spend on himself.
Now he will not receive a paycheck until mid-March.
He will be forced to rely on his baby mama Khloe Kardashian who allowed him and his brother to move into her Calabasas mansion after his home suffered water damage.
Tristan, 32, shares two children with Khloe – daughter True and son Tatum. He also has a son named Prince with ex-girlfriend Jordan Craig, and a son named Theo with a California woman.
Khloe, 39, has vowed to always be there for Tristan and his mentally disabled brother whenever they need her.
Tristan was drafted behind point guard Kyrie Irving by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011. He won a championship with the Cavaliers in 2016.
After bouncing around the league and becoming a free agent, Thompson ended up back where he started – in Cleveland.
The Cavaliers have won 8 straight games and have a record of 26-15 for the season.
