Netflix released the trailer for its upcoming animated remake of Norman Lear’s classic 1970s TV sitcom Good Times.
The animated series features JB Smoove, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jay Pharoah, Slink Johnson, Marsai Martin, and Wanda Sykes as descendants of the Evans family and supporting cast.
Good Times is executive produced by privileged NBA star Stephen Curry, Norman Lear, and Seth MacFarlane.
Be warned: Netflix’s animated Good Times is not a series about a loving, supportive family who remain upbeat despite the daily hardships they face living in the projects.
The new Good Times series is a farce. It’s a disrespectful mockery of the Black community that no one asked for.
The animated series features a drug dealing baby, profanity, shootouts, gangbangers, prostitution, dice games, alcoholism, rat-infested streets, a crack house, and every other Black stereotype.

I pray that Netflix doesn’t do a remake of The Cosby Show, What’s Happening!, The Jeffersons, Sanford and Son, or That’s My Mama.
Good Times season 1 features 10 episodes – all of which premiere on Netflix on April 12.
One X/Twitter user wrote: “The goal of the original Good Times show was to disrupt the flow of negative stereotypes about black families. This remake does the opposite, it promotes and amplifies the most negative stereotypes of black families.”
Another person wrote: “a drug dealing baby? i don’t mind a story of the ghetto or hood lifestyle, but this is what y’all thought was a ‘good time’?”
