As I said yesterday, voters aren’t as stupid or gullible as the media would like to believe they are. Despite Obama’s historic speech on race relations yesterday, the media continues to focus its attention on his pastor’s controversial views.
But, according to columnist Dick Morris, this too shall pass.
Will the Gospel According to Jeremiah Wright sink the Obama candidacy? Not very likely.
Let’s start with two basic facts:
(a) Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) has already won the Democratic nomination. It’s over. Regardless of how the remaining primaries and caucuses go, including Michigan and even Florida, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) can never catch Obama in elected delegates. His current lead of 170 pledged delegates will not be overcome no matter what happens. Even if Clinton beats him by 10 points in each of these primaries, he will still lead among elected delegates by over 100. The superdelegates will not override the will of the voters unless Obama is in jail. They will not let themselves in for a civil war by overruling a black man who is beloved by the young by going over the heads of the electorate and naming the candidate that lost the primaries as the nominee. Regardless of how damaged Obama may be by the Wright tapes, it will not provide sufficient cover or cause for them to do so. (Source)
I hope he’s right
I know it’s apparent that I am not 100% behind Obama based on my previous post, but even I know this man is right. My opinion may change after I have the opportunity to hear him speak here in NC. I just hope we are not being led to slaughter by promises of hope.
Good Post.
But I must re-interate, the answer to your Guess Who post is….Devyne Stephens!! I wrote my reasons in that post. Am I right??Do I Get a cookie??
ChokLitFactory Says: are you serious?
Well I hope he is right too because I just read on yahoo news that the lead Bama has over Hil is narrowing down and that they’re both trailing Cain overall.
I feel like our country will be divided once the nominee is revealed. I am concerned that Hillary supports McCain, especially if she doesnt win the nomination. If Obama wins people will be mad and causing problems and voting for McCain, this is something that will split the democratic party. I have more faith and hope in Obama, but its sad people are scared to vote for a black man because they feel more comfortable with whites being in control. Hillary is sneaky, racist, and a liar!
Im just going to wait patiently for the nom b/c it depends on what site your read or channel you listen to on how they portray Obama & Hillary
He may have won, but the real question is will he be electable????? Which is not looking good right now.
yeah i’m not sure about him winning. i mean that quote speaks the truth..but, the government puts in office who they want…and by the looks of what’s going down with his preacher and the media on a political warpath against him…i’m not so sure.
DON’T BE FOOLED PEOPLE. EVEN IF OBAMA WINS THE NOMINATION, PLEASE CONTINUE YOUR SUPPORT AND MAKE SURE YOU GO VOTE IN NOVEMBER, DON’T ASSUME OTHERS WILL SHOW UP.
THERE’S BEEN ALOT OF ARTICLES WRITTEN, AND POLITICAL COMMENTATORS CLAIMING VICTORY FOR OBAMA. HOWEVER, SOME BELIEVE, AS I DO, THAT THIS IS TACTIC TO SLOW PEOPLE DOWN, TO MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE THEIR VOTE IS NOT NECESSARY BECAUSE CLEARLY EVERYONE ELSE WILL SHOW UP AND VOTE FOR OBAMA, HE’S GOT IT IN THE BAG. DON’T BELIEVE THIS HYPE. STAND UP, GO VOTE, MAKE SURE YOU DON’T LEAVE IT UP TO OTHERS. THEY ARE TRYING TO SLOW DOWN HIS MOMENTUM BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE IN HISTORY HAS EVER GARNERED THIS MUCH SUPPORT DURING THE PRIMARIES, AND CAUSED SUCH A RALLYING OF SUPPORT THAT PEOPLE WERE PHYSICALLY MOVED TO GO VOTE, INCLUDING THE YOUNGSTERS. DON’T ASSUME SOMEONE ELSE WILL REPRESENT FOR YOU; YOU GO DO IT. DON’T STOP UNTIL HE TAKES HIS OATH OF OFFICE. KEEP FIGHTING, KEEP SUPPORTING HIM, AND KEEP PRAYING. DON’T GET COMFORTABLE, DON’T STOP; THEY ARE COUNTING ON THIS.
All I will say is
OBama 08!
After watching the news this morning it seems that everyday white Americans are not responding as well to his speech as I would have thought. Polls have shifted in Hillary’s favor and even John McCain when he has been paired up against Barack. Luckily for him this issue will be dead in a week. America’s attention span is not that great.
@ Bird:
Even before this latest controversy, I said Barack didn’t have a chance against John McCain. I still believe that. I’m just happy that a biracial man will be the first ever democratic presidential nominee in history. When I was a kid my hopes were dashed every time a black person ran for president (remember Shirley Chisholm?) Obama winning the democratic nomination will be the greatest thing that’s ever happened to the black community. Black kids can hold their heads up high everywhere they go.
The media (CNN in particular) is really beginning to irk me when it comes to Rev. Wright. Obama was interviewd by Chris Cuomo I believe on GMA yesterday morning. Chris asked Obama, “Do you mean I can be a nominee for president and my pastor is the leader of a white supremacist group?” That was a STUPID question. Who was preaching black supremacy? What about Hillary’s taxes? What about “Whitewater”, the real estate scam the Clinton’s received major bank for. I am aware that it is all political tactics, but the media should cover all of this simultaneously. If anyone is interested here is the information.

“Do you mean I can be a nominee for president and my pastor is the leader of a white supremacist group?”

I think that is a valid question. Everyone is not open-minded. I for one leave a church when I have major philisophical differances with the pastor and I had to grapple with that when Obama’s pastor first popped up on the radar. But when he made his speech I realized I couldn’t judge people based on how I do things. I accept his explanation. Unfortunately, it has turned out that the speech was not enough for many people.
Sandra,
I really think people are tired of Republicans and just can’t imagine any republican candidate winning the election. McCain has a lot of dirt in his pass so once the Democratic nominee is decided I imagine they are gonna really come hard at him. As we can see Hillary will get much dirtier with it than Barack. I really don’t think McCain can win.
