A TikTok user is going viral after she broke down in tears because she can’t afford to pay for groceries or gas in today’s economy.
In the video, Dianna Allen asked her followers if they are also struggling to make ends meet.
“Hey, TikTok. I’m just on here wondering if anybody is feeling the same way I’m feeling,” she said. “I’m from Illinois and I feel like the gas prices and the electric bills and the prices of food is just so overwhelming anymore. Like, I’m wondering if anybody else is feeling like they’re drowning and they can’t get out.”
She continued: “I work overtime, and I cannot get above water. I mean, I literally have no gas for next week. It was either that or get a few groceries to get by. I hit my local food pantries. I’m just wondering if anybody else feels like they’re drowning.”
She ended her video, saying “I hope everybody has a great day.”
TikTok users flooded her comments with messages of support and empathy until she made her TikTok page private.
X (Twitter) users also expressed their prayers and sympathy for Dianna.
One X user wrote: “This isn’t poverty. This is a system that prints money for war while mothers choose between food and gas. This is what it looks like when profit becomes God.”
Another user wrote: “This is so painful to watch, yet illegals were given debit cards and EBT stamps for food using tax payers money while average Americans suffer.”
A third person commented: “She’s not alone. I just had to go grocery shopping. $400 for a weeks worth of groceries for a family of 4. Coffee alone is $20 a container. Coffee shouldn’t be a luxury item.”
