A woman reacted to comments about her 13-year-old son discussing his back-to-school clothing in a video going viral.
In the video, the boy identified by his mother as “Ivan,” wears a Villanova Wildcats hoodie, black pants and a backpack. His hair is dyed red and his manicured gel nails are painted in multi-colors.
Some X users criticized the boy’s mother for exploiting him for clicks and views.
One person wrote: “They just wanna make money off of his internet presence.”
Another person wrote: “I would love to see what the father has to say.”
A third person commented: “She loves the attention her son gets.”
In a message posted on social media, Ivan’s mother said her son is living his truth. “I see lots of hateful comments about my son. Knowing damn well y’all don’t even know him or his parents,” she wrote. “My son is 13 he is living his truth and I see that s– bothers some of y’all…”
She continued: “I think y’all should tap in more to the person y’all not seeing in the mirror because over here everything is good. My children are happy and they live a happy life with both parents. All these weird comments about my son being touched or where is his father. Shame on some of y’all. Straight embarrassment.”
“Y’all don’t know us so why speak on something y’all have no facts about. Stay blessed and my son Ivan is going to continue to be that happy, confident, bright person that he is.”
She concluded: “We didn’t know him being himself bothered people that much. Don’t let this s– go over some of y’all heads.”
