Tyrese Gibson surrendered to Fulton County police on Friday, Oct. 3, and was booked into the Fulton County Jail on a charge of cruelty to animals.
The R&B crooner was released Friday on $20,000 bond.
“We are glad he did the right thing and turned himself in,” Fulton County Police Captain Nicole Dwyer said.
An arrest warrant was issued for the “Fast & Furious” actor after his four Cane Corso dogs mauled a neighbor’s small Spaniel to death.
The four dogs were seen roaming around Tyrese’s Buckhead neighborhood on Sept. 18. The dogs allegedly attacked a neighbor’s 5-year-old Spaniel named Henry.
Henry’s owner, Harrison Parker, told investigators he let the dog out around 10 p.m. and 10 minutes later, he found Henry dead in the driveway.
Parker said Henry suffered broken ribs and severe internal bleeding. The dog was also covered in slobber.
Security video from across the street showed the singer’s four dogs scratching at a neighbor’s door and running through yards shortly before the attack.
Tyrese agreed to surrender the dogs to animal control on Sept. 22. But when officers arrived at his Buckhead home, he told them he needed a few more days.
Earlier this week, Tyrese posted a video saying he re-homed his dogs and he apologized to his neighbor for the loss of his pet.
“I had no idea I would ever wake up to this nightmare, and I know the family must feel the same way,” he said in a statement. “To them, please know that my heart is broken for you. I am praying for your healing and for your beloved pet, who never deserved this. I remain committed to facing this matter with honesty, responsibility, and compassion.”
Tyrese’s attorney, Gabe Banks, said his client had stalkers for years, and “his only motivation in bringing these dogs into his life was to protect his family and provide peace of mind.”
