President Donald Trump is considering paying Americans “large amounts of money” to buy their own health insurance.

Health insurance premiums are expected to soar after the government shutdown ended on November 12. Obamacare open enrollment is seeing huge increases in insurance premiums.

While speaking to a reporter at the Palm Beach International Airport, Trump said he is in talks with Democrats about the idea of paying Americans directly to buy their own health insurance.

“I’m negotiating with lawmakers and I’ve had some personal talks with some Democrats – I can’t tell you who they are,” Trump said. “I just don’t want to do that. It’s not fair to them.”

Trump said he came up with the idea to pay Americans to buy health insurance after seeing the transfer of wealth to insurance companies during the government shutdown.

“The insurance companies are making a fortune,” Trump said. Insurance stocks are “up over a thousand percent over a short period of time. They are taking in hundreds of billions of dollars and they’re not really putting it back – certainly not like they should.”

“So when I see this… I said why don’t we just pay this money directly to the people of our country and let them buy their own health insurance?” Trump added.

“I am talking to some Democrats right now about doing that. People love it,” he said. “If it gets approved, we’re gonna take the money, we’re gonna pay it back to the people of our country to go out and buy health insurance. They can put it in a health account. We can do it a lot of different ways.”

When a reporter asked about fraud, such as in the EBT program, Trump said, “It’s going to be locked so they can’t got out and buy a Cadillac.”

Americans on X (Twitter) praised Trump for thinking of the American people during these stressful economic times.
