Singer Melanie Brown, aka Mel B of the Spice Girls, opened up about her menopause symptoms. The middle-aged singer says she recently learned menopause caused her hot flashes and sudden onset of night sweats.

Mel B also experienced brain fog, short term memory loss, anxiety, and vaginal dryness.

“I’d be talking, I’d lose my train of thought,” Mel tells The New York Post. “I’d go into a room and think, ‘What have I come into this room for?’ And it was starting to really annoy me. I was starting to get quite worried.”

Most women begin perimenopause in their mid 40s to early 50s. Perimenopause is the transition into menopause, which signals the end of a woman’s menstruation.

Mel said she didn’t know that all women with a uterus will experience menopause. She attributes her way of thinking to a culture that avoids discussion of a woman’s change of life.

Women raised in other cultures aren’t even told about the change when they’re young.

“It was taboo… I don’t think that’s fair on women, because it’s not like, oh, 25% of women are gonna go [through it] – no, 100% of women, you’re gonna go through it.”

“So why are we not talking about it? Why are our doctors not educated more?” Mel asks.

She finally shared her symptoms with her bandmates, who are also going through the change.

“It’s like, ‘Oh, well, does anybody else have it?’ And [I] find out all the Spice Girls have it,” she explained.

The British girl group formed in 1994 with members Mel B, 50, Melanie C, 52, Emma Bunton, 50, Geri Halliwell, 53, and Victoria Beckham, 52. They’ve sold over 100 records, making them the best-selling girl group of all time.

Mel sought anti-aging treatment and partnered with Revive Collagen to promote their latest line of subscription menopause supplements.

The products are designed to combat hair thinning and brittle nails by supporting collagen production in the hair and nails.

“I don’t put my name to just anything,” she insists. “I tried it, and I was like, you’ve got to be kidding me. It’s brilliant.” She liked it so much, she says, she gave testers to the other Spice Girls.

Mel also works out at the gym with weight-training and cardio “because as you get older, our bone density needs that extra help.”
