The 45-year-old English singer (pictured with Belafonte in 2014) was "devastated" when Eddie announced they were no longer a romantic item on a Dutch TV show in 2006.

"I don't know whose child that is until it comes out and has a test," he said about their unborn daughter.

Eddie continually denied Angel was his until a paternity test confirmed he was the father in 2007.

The 59-year-old comic previously agreed to pay Mel $25,000 -a-month in child support, as well as cover Angel's health insurance and her educational costs.

Mel B was ordered by a Los Angeles judge to cover $400,000 in legal fees and $100,000 in accounting fees for her ex-husband following their 2017 divorce.

According to MailOnline, Mel told L.A. Superior Court Judge Mark Juhas she is having financial difficulties.

She wrote: "I will effectively be insolvent and will in all likelihood have to file for bankruptcy. I simply do not have the ability to pay such an exorbitant sum."

She told the court she's been unable to work due to the coronavirus lockdowns.

"Eddie and Melanie have both established careers in the entertainment industry," her lawyers write in the court documents.

"Melanie is a singer, songwriter and television personality. Eddie is a legendary comedian and actor. Until recently, Melanie has been fortunate in her career to sustain a comfortable lifestyle for herself and Angel. Unfortunately, Melanie’s income has dramatically reduced, such that she must consider modifying child support for the first time."

Mel B's lawyer insist she made "numerous efforts to resolve the case without court intervention," adding, "Melanie was left with no choice but to file this."

According to court records, Murphy, 59, previously agreed to pay Mel $25,000 -a-month in child support, as well as cover Angel's health insurance and her educational costs.
