Jelly Roll has filed for divorce from his long-suffering wife, Bunnie XO, after 10 years of marriage. Jelly Roll (born Jason DeFord), filed for divorce in May, according to court records obtained by TMZ.

The divorce action comes after the country music star, 41, praised Bunnie (Alisa DeFord) during an emotional Grammy Awards speech after winning Best Contemporary Country Album in February. “I want to thank my beautiful wife. I would have never changed my life without you. I would have ended up dead or in jail,” he said. “I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that.”

Jelly and Bunnie met at one of his concerts at Las Vegas’ Country Saloon in 2015. They secretly tied the knot in Las Vegas in 2016. She helped him raise his 2 children, while he allegedly cheated on her.

Despite his womanizing, they renewed their wedding vows at the same Vegas chapel in 2023. Jelly Roll admitted that his cheating early in their marriage was “one of the worst moments of my adulthood.”

Bunnie commented on his cheating ways in her 2026 memoir Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic. She said he had a 10-month affair with another woman in 2018.

“A lot of people… are like, ‘Why didn’t you leave?’ And I’m like, ‘I did leave.’ I did leave him and we were split for about 30 days,” she told PEOPLE in January. “But I just loved that man so much that I just really, truly believe that he deserved a second chance.”

In her memoir, Bunnie said their motto is “that we aren’t each other’s possessions and consider our relationship to be free, not open.”

Bunnie helped Jelly Roll shed 275 pounds in his weight loss journey. “I’ve worked really hard and lost the weight the right way,” the singer said in his Men’s Health magazine cover story.

In a 2024 PEOPLE cover story, Jelly Roll said, “I prioritize family, and that’s what anchors me down. Everything that I believe going right for me is in the fact that I’m pretty grounded in my family.”

Jelly Roll is father to daughter Bailee, 18, and son Noah, 9, from previous relationships. He said Bunnie cherished her role as stepmother to his kids. They spoke about their desire to have children of their own via in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

Bunnie, 46, wrote in her memoir that they’d found a surrogate and they hoped to have twins.

“I think we’re just ready for a piece of us,” she told PEOPLE in January. “It has not been easy, but I know that God has a plan and he’s going to make it work. I really do. I have no doubt in my mind.”
