Some celebrities never cease to amaze me. Like most narcissists, they will do or say anything for attention. Increasingly violent narcissists have been in the news lately.
From murderess Jodi Arias to cop killer Christopher Dorner, and most recently, Oscar Pistorius, the double-amputee sprinter who was arrested for killing his model girlfriend at his home in South Africa on Thursday.
Yet even in times of tragedy, narcissists will seize the opportunity to draw attention to themselves.
Acclaimed director Tyler Perry stirred up emotions on his Facebook page on Friday, when he wrote:
“Tears for Reeva, prayers for Oscar. I’m devastated and heartbroken for these families.”
Some of Perry’s 8 million friends on Facebook couldn’t believe what they were reading. What God fearing man would ask anyone to pray for a sadistic murderer who took a cricket bat to the head of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, 29, then shot her four times on Valentine’s day?
Perry, 43, who met Pistorius, 26, on the Jay Leno Show in October, selected the Paralympic and Olympic sprinter as his choice for Sports Illustrated‘s Sportsman of the Year in December.
In a column he wrote exclusively for Sports Illustrated, Perry, 43, compared his hardscrabble life coming up as an able-bodied man to Pistorius, whose legs were amputated as an infant after he was born with a congenital defect.
“In my career I was able to overcome a lot of where I came from; that was with all of my limbs. It’s very difficult for me to find the words when I think about Oscar, his life and all that he’s done, but he is an inspiration to me every day.”
But struggle or no struggle, you don’t take another human life. Everyone has hurdles to overcome in life. We get over them and we move on. We don’t murder people. Once you kill another human being, your rights to be considered a human being ends.
