A sanitation worker suffered crushing injuries to his legs when a distracted driver slammed into the back of a Department of Sanitation waste truck in New York.

The incident happened in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx, around 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16. Police said the 40-year-old female driver of a Toyota Highlander failed to slow down, before ramming into sanitation worker Ahmad Ladson, who was standing at the back of the truck.

Ladson was transported to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition, but he is expected to survive.

The driver remained on the scene. No charges were filed against the driver.

“No criminality is suspected,” a police spokesperson said when asked about charges against the driver for recklessness. The spokesperson also declined to say if the driver was distracted, on her phone, speeding or simply not paying attention. “The investigation is ongoing,” the spokesperson said.

City records obtained by Streetsblog show Ladson has been with DSNY only two years, earning just $64,000 this year.

Ladson is recovering from surgery. It isn’t clear if he will lose the use of his legs.

Mary J. Blige responded to rumors that she allegedly received a “demand letter” from Houston attorney Tony Buzbee.

Mary is currently promoting her Gratitude album. She made an appearance at “The Drew Barrymore Show” in New York City on Tuesday. Mary was fashionable in a western style outfit and boots by Fendi.

Buzbee is currently representing dozens of plaintiffs who allege that Sean Combs drugged and r*ped them decades ago.

Buzbee said he sent dozens of demand letters to celebrities who participated in Combs’ freak off parties.

In public statements, Buzbee claims anonymous celebrities have settled out of court.

A source says Mary J. Blige, 53, is among those celebrities who settled. But, according to a source, she denied settling, and she never received a demand letter from Buzbee.

The insider said Mary is “distressed” by the allegations that she forced herself on young men during the peak of her R&B recording career.

Former singer Danny Boy told “The Art of Dialogue” podcast that Mary seduced him when she was 24 and he was only 15.

Mary seemed to respond to the accusation in a post about lacking “boundaries” on her Instagram page back in March 2024.

According to Vibe.com, the breakup comes less than two months after Rick and Justice Williams took their romance public.

Unlike the other women, Justice didn’t wait for Rick to dump her. She announced her relationship status on her TikTok account on Monday, Dec. 16.

In the TikTok video, the 27-year-old single mom danced in a robe as text overlay read: “When your 30 minutes up.”

As fans questioned what happened, she simply responded: “I broke up with him.” She also scrubbed his photos from her socials, declaring, “Gotta start fresh. It’s almost a new year.”

Justice is a single mom to a minor son. Her friends say Rick Ross was not a good role model for the boy.

Megan Thee Stallion has filed a restraining order against fellow rapper Tory Lanez who is serving time in prison for shooting her in both feet in 2020.

Megan, 29, submitted the paperwork on December 17, according to TMZ. Her request detailed months of harassment from Tory and a blogger, who Megan sued earlier this year.

Tory, 32, is currently serving a 10-year sentence at a state prison in California.

Megan’s court filing contained prison phone logs that allege a “coordinated effort” between Tory and blogger Milagro Gramz. The phone logs include a call from Tory’s father allegedly discussing $3,000 in payments to the YouTuber and blogger for the alleged harassment campaign.

Megan claims the harassment has harmed her mentally and the “psychological warfare” has left her depressed and unable to tour.

Megan said she “sometimes wishes Tory would have shot and killed me, if I would have known I was going to go through this torture.”

In December 2022, a jury convicted Tory on three felony weapons charges, including assault with a semi-automatic firearm, and shooting a firearm in a grossly negligent manner.

In October, Megan sued Milagro Gramz for allegedly acting as a “mouthpiece and puppet” for Tory.

In her lawsuit against Milagro, Megan accused the blogger of spreading harmful lies about her. Megan alleged that Milagro even uploaded a deepfake pr0n video depicting Megan participating in vulgar acts.

Prominent New York attorney Alex Spiro, who is representing Megan, accused Milagro of waging a public campaign to “denigrate, belittle, insult, and spread false statements” about Megan on behalf of Tory.

The alleged ongoing harassment campaign will be a factor at Tory’s parole hearing in a few years.

In a statement posted on her X (Twitter) account, Milagro said she had “been informed that I’m being sued by Alex Spiro on behalf of his client Megan Thee Stallion.”

Spiro also represents rap mogul Jay-Z in a lawsuit filed by an Alabama woman who claims the rapper and Sean Combs r*ped her when she was 13 in 2000.

Notorious Washington, D.C. drug kingpin Rayful Edmond III died of a heart attack months after he was released from federal prison. He was 60.

Kristie Breshears, a spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, confirmed his death on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Edmond’s brother said he died of a heart attack.

Edmond served 35 years of a life sentence before he was moved from prison in August to a community confinement (halfway house) in Nashville ahead of his release in 2025.

“Back better than ever,” Edmond said in a video uploaded to social media in August.

Edmond is credited with introducing crack cocaine to the D.C. area during the crack epidemic of the 1980s. The resulting crime wave helped D.C. earn the reputation as the “murder capital of the United States.”

Federal prosecutors alleged that Edmond trafficked hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Colombia to the Washington, D.C. area in the 1980s.

As a security precaution during his trial, Edmond was transported on a helicopter from prison to the courthouse every day.

He pled guilty to drug charges in 1989 and was sentenced to life without parole in a federal prison.

Edmond continued to run his drug empire from a Pennsylvania federal prison with the help of fellow inmates from Colombia.

Court documents said Edmond ran the “largest cocaine distribution operation in the history of the nation’s capital.” He was responsible for bringing thousands of pounds of Colombian cocaine to Northeast Washington, D.C.

Edmond was also an informant who gave the feds information on 2 homicides. He testified at one of the murder trials.

With Edmond’s help, the feds arrested 8 drug dealers in the D.C. area and recovered $190,000 in cash.

In 2021 a judge reduced Edmond’s sentence from life without parole to 20 years with lifetime parole. He received credit for the 18 years he’d already served.

The world’s largest pr0n website is cutting off access to Florida residents starting on January 1, 2025.

Florida residents will be unable to access Pr0nHub, the most trafficked pr0nography website worldwide, as of Jan. 1.

Officials with Aylo, the parent company to Pr0nHub, confirmed it will deny access for all users in the state in response to age restriction laws.

An email from the company stated the restriction is in protest of conservative states that protect children from dangerous influences online.

“Unfortunately, the way many jurisdictions worldwide, including Florida, have chosen to implement age verification is ineffective, haphazard and dangerous,” reads an email from Aylo.

Florida passed a state law making it mandatory for pr0n sites to verify user’s ages by requiring them to provide a photo ID to login. Websites that don’t comply are subject to a $50,000 fine. In response, Pr0nHub is cutting off Florida on Jan. 1.

Texas, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Kentucky and Nebraska were blocked earlier this year, and Oklahoma was cut off last month.

“Any regulations that require hundreds of thousands of adult sites to collect significant amounts of highly sensitive personal information is putting user safety in jeopardy,” Aylo stated. “Moreover, as experience has demonstrated, unless properly enforced, users will simply access non-compliant sites or find other methods of evading these laws.”

State lawmakers aren’t impressed by Aylo’s protests.

“The fact that they’ve chosen to shut down instead of complying to ensure that children aren’t accessing their site tells us exactly who their real target audience is,” said state Rep. Chase Tramont, a Port Orange Republican and the sponsor of the age verification bill.

Rep. Fiona McFarland, a Sarasota Republican, said, “If a company can’t abide by Florida laws, then they can’t do business here.”

Travis Hunter’s fiancée Leanna Lenee “cried herself to sleep” after reading hateful comments directed toward her online, according to Travis.

Social media users called her a “gold digger” and a “narcissist” after viewing a livestream video of the couple.

Twitter users reacted to a viral video that shows Leanna impatiently waiting for Travis while he took photos with fans at a meet and greet.

“I’m just supposed to sit here then?” she asked him. Travis tried to appease her by telling her to walk around while he greets his fans. But she sat there fuming because he got more attention than she did.

In another video, Leanna admitted Travis wasn’t her type until she found out who he was.

Leanna posted a video to her TikTok on Monday (Dec. 16), addressing the online reaction to a video of Travis winning the Heisman award.

Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders forced Leanna to stand up when Travis’s name was called.

“When his name was called, I instantly was going to get up — if you watch the video, his mom didn’t get up, so I was like, ‘Oh, maybe I don’t get up, I just sit here,'” Leanna said. “As soon as I seen Travis get up, then I thought it was appropriate to stand up, greet him, congratulate him. But then, there was a camera right in front of Coach Prime and I knew they were going to film that moment and because of how people are online, I was like, I don’t want to be in that shot, so I sat down.”

Health officials in New York say two men died from infectious pneumonia after using bat feces as fertilizer to grow marijuana.

The two men, ages 64 and 59, used bat poop fertilizer called guano to grow cannabis.

The men had smoked marijuana contaminated with a fungus found in the guano. The fungus caused deadly lung infections.

One of the men ordered the guano online, while the other victim used guano from a colony of bats in his attic.

The men did not know each other. They were found dead in separate locations in Rochester, NY.

Health officials issued a warning to beware of ordering guano online for weed fertilizer.

The doctors wrote that using guano on home-grown marijuana plants appears to be a “recent trend”. They urge avoiding use of the fertilizer, unless it has been independently tested for fungus and other pathogens.

Online sources call guano a “natural superfood” for growing cannabis, but it can contain dangerous bacteria, fungus or virus that can make people seriously ill.

Pathologists tested the bat feces and found a fungus called Histoplasma capsulatum, which is native to the Eastern half of the US.

The fungus is found in bat droppings and bird droppings, and in the soil naturally.

Most people get the illness from breathing in spores of the fungus through the nose or mouth.

Once the fungus is inhaled into the lungs, it takes between three and 17 days for symptoms to appear. It is not contagious and doesn’t spread between humans.

At the time, Kirsten was unhappy with the gossip because social media users dragged her into it by insinuating she’s a male-to-female transgender.

In a video on her Instagram Stories, Kirsten explained she and Chance were out at an event all night when he accidentally ‘liked’ the transgender video.

Russia announced it will roll out a cure for cancer in the next few months. Russia announced its groundbreaking new cancer cure on Tuesday.

According to Russian Agency TASS, Russia has developed its own mRNA vaccine against cancer. The vaccine will be provided to patients at no cost.

Unlike vaccines designed to prevent cancer, this vaccine is intended to cure patients who already have cancer. This is great news to patients who are undergoing chemotherapy and radiation with terrible side effects.

The vaccine will be personalized to the patient’s cancer type. Colon, breast, and lung cancers are among the most common types in Russia.

The vaccine was developed in collaboration with several research centers and is expected to be launched for general circulation in early 2025, according to TASS.

Pre-clinical trials of the vaccine demonstrated its ability to suppress tumor growth and prevent metastases (spread) to other organs in the body.

Other countries are also working on personalized cancer vaccines. In May, researchers at the University of Florida tested an individualized vaccine on four patients with glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer.

In the UK, scientists are testing a personalized vaccine for melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. Early results have shown that the vaccine significantly improves survival rates.
