Video: Baby gives parents the evil eye

18

I fell out when I saw this video of a baby giving his parents the evil eye. This is too cute!

EDIT:
My loyal reader Clay emailed me to say the “Us Placers” video was directed by Va$htie, an up and coming director from new york.

Scandal: New Hip Hop style trend infuriates Muslims

41

A new Hip Hop trend is threatening to drive a wedge between the Muslim and urban communities. The Muslims are taking offense to a style of dress adopted by rappers who wear a jalabia – a Muslim symbol of freedom – around their necks as a scarf. The jalabia is a traditional head dress worn by Muslim freedom fighters.

The new style first made popular by Island Records president of Urban Music, Jermaine Dupri, is now being worn by everyone from Jay Z to Omarion and Chris Brown. But while celebrities think the head garment is stylish to wear around their necks, it is causing a furor within the Muslim community. The Muslims want celebs to stop desecrating their symbol – or face the consequences.

One man who asked to remain anonymous told me, “Men died fighting in a war for that. Arafat wore it. People took bullets in the back fighting for that! [Rappers] don’t know what the meaning of that is.. they’re ignorant! They go overseas and they go to Dubai then they come back and say, ‘look at the new trend I started’. It’s disrespectful!”

The Muslim man I spoke with thinks rappers need a little sensitivity training, “If I see them wearing the jalabia, I’ll make them take it off!,” he said.

Fashion Cent$: Dallas Austin strikes gold with new clothing line

12

Quiet as it’s kept, producer Dallas Austin has been dressing his celebrity friends in pieces from his new clothing line for at least a year. Though not a new concept, Dallas describes his new clothing line as “street couture menswear.”

“I found that there was a lack of men’s clothing that spoke to the new generation, so I wanted to fill that void by creating a brand that exemplifies cutting edge style, and a collection that breaks ethnic boundaries,” the Atlanta native said about the inspiration behind the clothing line.Primarily a fusion of punk and prep influences, with a distinctive European militant touch, Rowdy’s tagline, “Rowdy, King of All Angels” was inspired by Austin’s adopted philosophy of the fallen angel, who found his own strength after being cast from heaven and transforming himself into a villain of good. After discovering his true warrior within, the angel proved himself to God and became the King of all angels. (Source: EURweb)

Celebs such as Jermaine Dupri and Sean Combs have been photographed wearing the bold white or black tees emblazoned with the Rowdy crest. This past weekend, Quincy Brown wore a red limited jacket with punk flavor from the Rowdy line to his Stunna 16 birthday party at the Velvet room.

Old man Jordan was back on the court today showing the young’ uns a thing or two about basketball. ESPN reports Charlotte Bobcats’ owner Michael Jordan participated during a practice drill to boost the morale of his sagging team.

“This was more or less for the morale of the players,” Jordan said. “The last couple of days it has been all about trying to get them to focus on the little things and to play as a team.”

“I also told them yesterday that on this team we have no All-Stars — none,” Jordan said. “That means everybody has to rely upon each other to be successful. Until we develop an All-Star that can take over a game, I think it’s very important for them to understand that they have to play as a unit. I think that’s the message that a lot of the guys got.”

Sounds to me like Jordan is thinking about coming back to play for a tenth NBA championship ring.

Ruben Studdard dropped from J Records?

15

I hope this isn’t true. Rumor is American Idol’s 2nd season winner, Ruben Studdard was dropped from J Records today due to poor record sales of his last disc. If it is true, Ruben will be picked up by another label pronto. He is truly a talented brother who is deserving of all the accolades he has received.

Here’s an email I received from a loyal reader:

Hey Sandra,
I just wanted to let you know my brother tours as a background singer for Ruben Studdard and he was just informed today that Ruben was dropped by J Records. The sales were just too bad from his last album. He has only sold 234,000 copies.

Meanwhile, Ruben will return to host American Idol Rewind, in which he and runner-up Clay Aiken will bring back memories of Ruben’s historical 2nd season victory through behind the scenes video.

Source: Grand Hustle artists abandoning ship

This is not a rumor: Apparently, some of Grand Hustle’s artists are very confident in the government’s case against their boss Clifford “T.I.” Harris. At least one GH artist has expressed interest in moving to a different label.

The word is the artists feel that T.I. will do at least 2-5 years in the federal pen which leaves his artists up the creek without a paddle. Currently, there is no active marketing or promoting of the other artists on the Grand Hustle roster. I’m also hearing that investors are nervous in light of the fact that T.I. isn’t able to promote his product which means decreased sales.

Meanwhile, T.I. continues his feverish pace of writing and recording tracks in his home studio while he awaits trial on federal gun charges. T.I. promises to make his presence felt even if he is out of the game. With no tour or appearance money coming in, T.I. is fielding requests to appear on other artist’s joints for a nominal fee.

OC: ‘It was a joke’

So you can’t trust the mainstream media now to give you the straight news? Is the mainstream media competing with bloggers for attention? What is this world coming to?

It was a joke, O.C. Weekly magazine says of the rumor it started that Zac Efron and Lil Wayne are collaborating on a new album.

The well-respected arts and entertainment publication, had published a story that the High School Musical star and the rapper have been witnessed by a reporter of the magazine sharing a smack on the lips.

The article writes with Efron saying “What’s up, my n**ga?” to the rapper and then giving him a hug and a kiss on the lips. The magazine failed to print the story with a disclaimer making the readers believe that the story was true.

The magazine tells celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, “I just wanted to clarify that the Zac Efron and Lil’ Wayne story is purely fictional and is simply intended as a joke (and a hysterical one at that).” (Source)

I didn’t find it the least bit funny. Especially the part where the writer threw in the word “nigga.”

Party Over Here!

It was party central in Atlanta last night. There were at least 4 big parties going on all over the city. Some private and some not so private. The one I was hired to attend kind of fizzled out early so I won’t mention it. A clue that the party wasn’t happening occurred when I pulled u to the club and I saw the organizer speed off in his truck. I’m like where’s he going?

After leaving that spot, I stopped by Simon Gidewon‘s studio only to learn that I missed rapper Yung Joc by 20 minutes (he was all dressed up to attend the same party I was going to).

Simon’s Street Market Entertainment is about to do big things. His artist Trouble is making noise. Don’t think that Joc stopped by the studio just to kick it with the boys. He obviously heard the tracks and wanted to hear more. I’m told Joc was interested in a few of the tracks.

By the way, Street Market has a HOT track for Janet Jackson if you’re reading this, Jermaine! I heard it and it does have Janet’s style all over it. Big things poppin’ for Simon, Afrika and David Breed!

Anyway, the big rumor last night was that gun slinging moll Remy Ma was in town to attend a party at Uptown Restaurant & Lounge. I got an email from a guy at Fox Sports Net asking me about it. Rico Brooks, Yung Joc’s manager was also looking for info on that party.

Young Jeezy‘s Christmas party/ toy drive was attended at Justin’s last night. Celebs in attendance included Shaq, Dwyane Wade, Slick Pulla, Ray J and others. I didn’t get a chance to stop by there but shouts to Tracey Nguyen at 5WPR for the personal invite!

Huckabee: ‘That was a bookshelf behind me, a bookshelf’

Yesterday, a friend told me my blog was her first stop every morning. That flattered me but if I wasn’t Sandra Rose, this would not be my first stop every morning. My first stop is the Drudge Report. In fact, that’s my home page. It’s where I get the real news before I delve into the world of gossip and breaking scoops.

Yesterday, the bold headline on Drudge Report – and just about every major media outlet – was about the “floating cross” in Mike Huckabee‘s political ad. The righteous media is so quick to pounce on any politician who has the gall to invoke the name – or even a symbol – of God or religion in their ads. Must maintain that separation of church and state at all costs.

Mike must have felt the heat because he quickly responded to the mounting criticism by saying “That was a bookshelf behind me, a bookshelf…” I laughed my ass off when I read that this morning. I have a weird sense of humor. But some people were not amused:

rjpcambridge
As a Christian and an American I am offended that Mike thinks we are so dumb we will believe him when he says the WHITE GLOWING CROSS just happens to be there by accident. God I hate lying politicians… (Source)

In Mike’s defense, if you look at the picture, it is a bookshelf with objects conveniently darkened to make the symbol of the cross more apparent.
