Judge Rules Former NBA Player Can’t Return to Alabama University

An Alabama Circuit Court judge ruled a former NBA player is not eligible to return to Alabama University for NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) money.

Judge Daniel Pruet denied Alabama basketball player Charles Bediako’s motion to allow him to play for the rest of the season.

A temporary restraining order allowed the former NBA G League player to join the Alabama Crimson Tide in the middle of the season.

The 23-year-old center averaged 10 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in five games for Alabama.

NCAA eligibility rules allows players who already graduated from college to continue playing. But critics say the eligibility rules come at the expense of high school athletes.

NCAA President Charlie Baker said the judge’s ruling was a “common sense” decision.

“Common sense won a round today,” Baker said. “The court saw this for what it is: an attempt by professionals to pivot back to college and crowd out the next generation of students. College sports are for students, not for people who already walked away to go pro and now want to hit the ‘undo’ button at the expense of a teenager’s dream. While we’re glad the court upheld the rules our members actually want, one win doesn’t fix the national mess of state laws. It’s time for Congress to stop watching from the sidelines and help us provide some actual stability.”

Athletes who continue to play after graduating from college include Miami University quarterback Carson Beck, 23, who graduated from the University of Georgia 2 years ago.

Carson earned $3 million in NIL money at the University of Miami in 2025.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations released a surveillance photo that shows a suspect in the disappearance of “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Federal authorities released surveillance photos showing a “potential suspect” as the search for Nancy Guthrie enters its 10th day.

The B&W images shows a person wearing a ski mask, jacket, jeans, black latex gloves and carrying a backpack and a gun. The suspect seems to be tampering with a doorbell camera at the front door of Nancy’s Tucson home.

The doorbell camera was missing from its bracket near the front door, police said.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen on Saturday, Jan. 31, when she was dropped off at her $1 million Tucson, Arizona home after having dinner with daughter, Annie Guthrie, and son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni.

A family friend reported Nancy missing at noon on Sunday when she failed to show up at a friend’s home to watch CCTV video from Savannah Guthrie’s church service in New York City.

Ransom notes sent to gossip blog TMZ and a local Tucson news station have been dismissed by law enforcement as not relevant to the case. The deadline for a $6 million ransom to be paid in Bitcoin passed on Monday, Feb. 9.

Veteran homicide investigator Paul Ciolino says he believes Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping was staged.

“I don’t think she was kidnapped,” Ciolino said in a livestream video. He noted that the alleged kidnappers never provided proof of life to the family before the deadline passed on Monday.

Savannah Guthrie released a third video on Monday pleading for help from the public.

“We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help,” she said in the video.

WNBA star Rickea Jackson revealed shocking details from her domestic dispute with James Pearce Jr. that ended in violence on Saturday.

James, 22, was arrested on five felony charges after their domestic altercation erupted in Miami. His charges include two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated stalking.

Rickea, 24, called 911 on Saturday morning, stating James was following her in his car. She told police they recently broke up after a 3-year relationship, and she blocked his phone number, but he used another phone to text her.

“A text shows Rickea told him to leave her alone, and she wanted nothing to do with him. He kept texting her, and when she left her house, she noticed him driving behind her. When she was stopped at a red light, she told police he got out of his car and tried to open her door,” Trish Christakis of NBC 6 Miami wrote on X (Twitter).

James jumped back into his car, followed Rickea, and tried to rear-end her car near the police station.

When Rickea tried to reverse, he collided head-on with her car. Doral police arrived and he drove into an officer, injuring the officer’s knee.

James fled and crashed at an intersection. Police ordered him out of the car with guns drawn. It took 7 officers to wrestle the 6’5″ Atlanta Falcons linebacker to the ground and take him into custody.

James was released from jail on Sunday night after posting a $20,500 bond.

He was ordered to stay away from Rickea and have no contact with her.

James denied the charges in a statement issued through his attorney.

“We look forward to working with the State Attorney’s office in fully investigating this case and uncovering the truth,” James’ attorney, Jacob Nunez, said in a statement on Monday.

“Mr. Pearce maintains his innocence and urges the public to understand that while allegations have the power to shape a narrative, that it is hardly the full, complete story. We look forward to vigorously defending our client and remain confident that he will continue contributing positively to both his team and the community he serves so well.”

Victoria, a struggling rapper with cashflow problems, said their mom still punches a clock at FedEx to make ends meet.

“Y’all favorite rapper ain’t sh*t and I’m getting tired of it,” ScarFace said in a video.

“Ma, you keep doing what you wanna do. You keep getting spoiled every month, and you keep working because you wanna work, ’cause you don’t wanna lay on your back and beg nobody for nothin’.”

GloRilla’s mom chimed in, saying she had to resign from her job because “the girl told where we worked, the hours that we were doing, so we had to resign.”

Her mom said she only worked part-time – about 3 hours a day.

GloRilla’s mother blamed herself for ScarFace’s money struggles.

“She didn’t know we were working at first, and when I couldn’t give her the money… that made her think that I was struggling,” her mom explained.

Earlier this year, Wendy was concerned that she’d be allowed to attend her dad’s 95th birthday.

New England Patriots wide receiver Mack Hollins went viral on Sunday when he showed up at the Super Bowl wearing a prison jumpsuit with shackles on his hands and feet.

The eccentric NFL star also wore a spit mask covering the lower half of his face. The video quickly went viral and left many Super Bowl viewers scratching their heads.

“RANGE 13” printed on the back of his prison jumpsuit referenced a supermax prison. Some fans said Hollins was dressed up as Hannibal Lector, the fictional serial killer from the movie “Silence of the Lambs.”

Hollins is known for publicity stunts and antics to make himself stand out. But this might be his craziest stunt yet.

Hollins, who won Super Bowl LII with the Philadelphia Eagles, has publicly stated he doesn’t wear shoes because they’re “dirty.”

“Everyone should be barefoot,” Hollins told Sports Illustrated in a 2025 interview. “It’s so funny that people look at me like that because shoes are definitely dirtier than feet.”

Hollins’ arrival was one of the most talked-about moments during Super Bowl 60.

One person wrote on X (Twitter), “Is anyone else sick of this performative bullsh*t?!!! Patriots WR Mack Hollins arrives for the Super Bowl dressed like Hannibal Lector… What in the entire eff was the point?”

Another person wrote: “This is how Patriots WR Mack Hollins arrived at the Super Bowl. Wtf is going on at the NFL…”
