Paula Patton was vacationing in Mexico with her son, Julian, when her mom's original fried chicken recipe went viral on social media.

Black Twitter dragged the actress for washing the chicken in cold water and putting seasoning in the cooking oil instead of marinating the chicken in seasoning overnight the way Jamaicans do it.

Paula was gracious and acknowledged the criticism in a video on her Instagram account. She didn't go in too hard on her critics.

"I just wanted to respond and say, listen, I get it. It might look crazy. It is the way we do it. My mom taught me. It is my mom's recipe," she said.

Paula also said, because of the way the video was edited, it may not look like she washed the chicken in water long enough. She said she did wash the chicken, because she fed the chicken to her son and his entire school.

There is no need to soak chicken in vinegar or lemon juice because bacteria can't survive in 425-degree temperatures in the oven.

"It's all good, because everybody's got their own way of making things," Paula said. "I'll take suggestions. I make a new kind of fried chicken, but I'm gonna always make my mom's chicken the way that she did it. We put the seasoning in the oil and all that. It's just the way we do it."

Not everyone can throw down in the kitchen like Colonel Sanders. Take Chef Paula Patton, for example.

Paula's original fried chicken recipe has all of twitter dragging her for daring to share her mom's secret recipe.

TikTok user TheTrackQueen criticized Paula for washing her chicken in cold water.

Cooks wash chicken in cold water because bacteria can't survive in an oven set to 425 degrees farenheit. Vinegar is for cleaning counters, not cleaning chicken.

The video went viral, racking up over 5 million views.

Twitter users are still dragging poor Paula. Things really went left when Twitter blamed Paula's mixed race for her original chicken recipe.

One Twitter user wrote:

"Dear Black People: Spend more time with your mixed children and teach them how to make Black and Southern food properly. Paula Patton’s chicken is a disgrace to our cuisine."

Everyone fries chicken differently. Who are they to tell Paula how to fry her chicken?

Imagine if messy Twitter users were around back in the day when Colonel Sanders created his secret recipe. KFC restaurants would be non-existent today.

Popeyes Chicken racked up $20 million in sales since introducing its new spicy fried chicken sandwich this month. Black Twitter users who raved about the new chicken sandwich triggered stampedes at many Popeyes locations.

The ongoing spat between pro golfers Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia got ugly on Tuesday when Garcia made a racist remark in reference to Woods.

The drama started when Garcia accused Woods of distracting him during the Players' golf Championship in May. Ever since then Garcia and Woods have traded barbs and avoided each other. But things got nasty when Garcia was asked if he would invite Woods over for dinner during the U.S. Open in June.

"Sure. We'll have him 'round every night," Garcia allegedly said. "We will serve fried chicken."
