In defense of Beyonce…
This is the one and only time I will defend Bey because it’s apparent that some people lack reading comprehension skills.
Beyonce was not talking smack about Janet Jackson when she told ELLE magazine:
“I grew up upper class. Private school. My dad had a Jaguar. We’re African-American and we work together as a family, so people assume we’re like The Jacksons. But I didn’t have parents using me to get out of a bad situation.”
Clearly she’s talking about Joe Jackson using The Jackson 5 to get out of Gary, Indiana when times were hard and jobs were scarce.
She was not purposely targeting Janet.
It’s interesting that Matthew used Bey to earn the cash that fueled his expensive drug habit (allegedly). And he ended up robbing the other members of Destiny’s Child (also allegedly). But I guess that’s not the same thing as using the money your children earn to make a better life for your family.

If you take a stab at Joe Jackson with a comment like that you are taking a stab at Janet, Mike and the whole Jackson clan.
This is a touchy subject for me. I;ve never faulted Joe for the way he raised his children because in a time when life was not great for black people he created one of the greatest performers of all time.
comparing Joe Jackson to Matthew Knowles in the way she did was disrespectful. “We grew up upper class.” Well so the hell did Janet. Shoot by the time she grew up they were RICH!
And I applaud Janet for stepping up and defending her family name. & I hope she sticks to her word and puts Bey in her place when she sees her.

I don’t think anyone said she was talking about Janet. If she actually said that it was a diss to Janet’s father and family. Furthermore it sounded like she thinks her family is better than their’s. If she said it about my family I’d be pissed too. The fact is her father is EXACTLY like Joe. Both were willing to put everything into their children’s music careers foresaking pratically everything else, including their marraiges. It doesn’t matter that one was working class and the other middle class. Joe would have done it even if he were rich. No doubt about that.

I like Beyonce’s music and all, but in MY opinion, Latoya can sing circles around Beyonce. Where is it written that you have to be managed by the same person as everyone else. Pappa Knowles was mad some of that cheddar was going out of his pocket.
BTW: On the show it said she went to a school for the perfroming arts. Don’t know if that is considered private or not.

I am a mother and it seems to me that once he became their BUSINESS manager, he should have took the fathering hat OFF when he was conducting business. It seems that you have to lose your career in order to prove your alliegience to the Knowles’ clan (i.e. Kelly). He wanted to make sure that Beyonce was center stage, was that best for the group or best for his baby. Business should never be personal. That is EXACTLY what he did to make sure that they never had to learn how it is to live like normal folk.

Joe Jackson and the family grew up during a time when parents whipped yo azz. that why they grew up not getting trouble or going to rehab. he raised 10 kids to become adults without them being in trouble and that has to go along way.
people who grew up during that time wasnt any different from the kids of now days its just that you had momma and daddy, aunt uncle grand ma grand daddy to deal with and most didnt play. kids now days have time out or they send them to their room where they have 3k worth of entertainment equipment, TV DVD, CD, computer, and a phone so u didnt punish them you sent them to club med.

If your child was in a group and was getting the short end of the stick you would sit by and allow that to go down? I think not. I will agree that Latavia and Latoya did do the BS trying to fire him after they blew up. I always felt that was fueled by RL from Next (I think it was him I’ll double check my facts on it.) who was dating one of them at the time. I remember him doing an interview with and he was way more involved than he should’ve been.
I have seen an interviewer ask her about this before (sway on mtv I think) and she was obviously put off by the comparison and told him besides music their families were nothing alike. This was around b day. I don’t know know why she just didn’t give the same answer without all the snobbiness. People keep comparing them because we all know that matthew is just as crazy and controlling, even if he didn’t beat they ass. She should stop talking as if her family doesn’t have skeletons.

I was listening to Letoya today.And compare her to Kelly, Letoya has stronger vocals than Kelly, which is crazy why would Matthew want to boot Letoya/Latavia out.In regards to the breakup, all those girls wanted is a new manager.It was their free will to do so.This is America not China.
Thats a shame, all the girls wanted was another manager watching their back because they said they didnt have any money but Beyonce was given a Jag and she had money all the time. Its messed up, Beyonce let her friends know they were out of the group when they aired “Say My Name”. Latoya and Latavia wrote songs on the album that won Grammy’s but they were not allowed to walk on stage, they had to watch Michelle and Farrah accept their award. Beyonce and camp are shady and Matthew also used her to get out of a bad situation. Matthew quit his executive job at Xerox to teach his daughter to gyrate and act older than she is. Tina was working 2 jobs and supporting the household, she couldnt do it anymore so they separated and she and the kids moved into an apartment. Joe Jackson didnt teach Janet or his other girls how to gyrate and give cat calls to men wearing stilettos at the age of 15, and people asking her age when she hit the stage. (lol). Joe Jackson was hard on his kids because he was a perfectionist but Matthew is worse than Joe.
