After reports indicated that several students were expelled from Oprah Winfrey's school in South Africa, The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy, for inappropriate behavior, the daytime diva is speaking out in a statement obtained by Entertainment Tonight.
In a statement, Oprah expresses her regret that as many as seven girls allegedly sexually harassed other students. A spokesperson for the school says students were told to leave for violating the code of conduct, but said it was "a confidential school matter."
"I'm disappointed that several of our students chose to disregard the school's rules. It's disheartening when any student has to be suspended or expelled and it's a process that involves serious review and consideration," Oprah says in the statement. "We insist on maintaining a campus environment that commands mutual respect, fosters academic excellence and encourages learners to fulfill their best potential."
She continues, "Indiscretions resulting in disciplinary action are common in schools all over the world. Unfortunately, because of my name these common infractions place the Academy in the media spotlight."
DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan – The commander of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility Tuesday for a deadly assault on a Pakistani police academy and said the group was planning a terrorist attack on the White House that would "amaze" the world.
"Soon we will launch an attack in Washington that will amaze everyone in the world," Mehsud told The Associated Press by phone. He provided no details.
Click the above link to scan your PC for the Internet worm and clean your PC if it's infected. Leaving your computer off all day tomorrow will not protect your PC from being affected if the worm is already inside.
As you've already heard by now, a giant Internet worm is set to be unleashed upon your computers tomorrow (April 1) -- and no, it isn't an April Fool's joke. Read more about the worm here.
The virus creators have gotten so smart that even the best anti-virus programs can't detect their handiwork any more. Last week it took me two days to clean out my system from a virus infection -- and I had the full suite of McAfee Anti-Virus tools running on my machine at the time.
After noticing my computer and Internet dragging, I ran 4 anti-virus tools before one of them finally detected 29 instances of the dreaded TDSSserv trojan in my registry. It then took me another two hours and two more programs to remove all traces of it from my PC.
I don't know anything about this worm that's supposed to be released on unsuspecting PC owners tomorrow. What I do know is I will no longer be surfing the Internet on my PC -- only on my Mac which is immune to virus and trojans.
When Bill Gates makes Windows virus-free like Apple then I'll go back to browsing the Internet on my PC.
The Obamas touched down in England a short time ago. In a sense, it's kind of good having the Obamas over in my native land if only it means we get a breather from Obama for a while.
I hope my fellow countrymen don't show the Obamas the same disrespect that they showed the Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his wife earlier this month. What's a worst gift to give a visiting dignitary than a pen and 25 DVDs?
I read somewhere that Obama's $300,000 limo was being flown to England for this trip. I hope they realize that in England the steering wheel is on the passenger side of the car and we drive on the left hand side of the street in England -- not on the right. It's very easy to forget what side of the road you're supposed to be on. And we don't want any presidential accidents on my home turf.
It's a good thing Barack Hussein Obama is out of the country: another one of his Democrat brethren is behind bars.
According to CNN, suspended Mobile County Circuit Judge Herman was arrested and charged with -- among other things -- spanking male inmates who were brought to his courtroom from a local jail.
Authorities are investigating allegations that now-suspended Mobile County Circuit Judge Herman Thomas periodically removed prisoners from Mobile County Metro Jail and spanked them in a room at the courthouse, according to courthouse sources involved in the inquiry.
Once inside the room, according to the sources, the judge would ask the young men to drop their pants and prepare to be spanked with what they described as a wooden or fraternity-like paddle.
Maybe there are no sexual undertones to these allegations. Maybe the judge is old school and decided to dispense his own brand of justice. Anyone older than 40 remembers being "paddled" in high school. There was nothing sexual about it -- and kids actually behaved in class.
Last week, rapper Young Jeezy was kept super busy grinding out two videos in 24 hours off his gold album The Recession. Jeezy shot two back-to-back videos for "Get A Lot" and "Don't You Know" at the Krog Studios in Atlanta. Word is, Def Jam's goal is to shoot a video for every track on Jeezy's album. Videos must be going for nothing these days. I remember the days when a single video would set a major label back an average of $1 million.
Thanks to Thad over at ExclusiveAccess.net for sending over these pics from the set. You might have seen Thad's photos with another blog's logo plastered all over them like they paid for the photos when they didn't. I wonder if bloggers know that when they do that they take food out of the photographer's mouth? What ever happened to common courtesy in blogging?
On Sunday, March 29, 2009, The Collective Renaissance Guild (www.collectiverenaissanceguild.com) in conjunction with the Woodruff Arts Center hosted a "Graduation Party" for Andre Benjamin's Class of 3000 LIVE closing show.Over 250 guests enjoyed the fun-filled afternoon filled with a Graduation ceremony, sugary treats, and spunky conversation with the cast of Class of 3000 LIVE. Actor Boris Kodjoe was spotted out & about in Atlanta last week at PURE nightclub without his wife Nicole. This is totally unrelated to PURE or his night out, but I did hear a disturbing story about Boris from a source who I consider credible. I actually wrote the story over the weekend. Due to the fact that I'm not a writer I had to rewrite it 3 times -- first I named him then I decided to make it a Blind Item. But in the end I scrapped the story altogether simply because there was no way for me to write it without hurting innocent people who don't deserve this type of drama. Plus I'm sure his wife already knows her hubby is a dog so what's the point? Photos by ATLPics.net

First Lady Michelle Obama is on her way to England at this hour. But before she left she wanted to make sure her loyal subjects know she is not pregnant. What took her so long to address the rumors we wonder?
Besides treadmill and weights, Michelle says, "I also do some jump rope, some kickboxing -- and I'd like to take up Pilates, if I could figure out whether there's time. After I had [daughter] Malia, I began to prioritize exercise because I realized that my happiness is tied to how I feel about myself. I want my girls to see a mother who takes care of herself, even if that means I have to get up at 4:30 so I can do a workout."
Nevertheless, rumors have spread that the first lady is expecting -- and she is just baffled.
"I was like, 'Baby bump'? As hard as I work on my abs?" she says. "Here's the scoop: Not pregnant. And not planning on it."
Investigators suspect two African immigrants slain at a Long Island condo owned by an NFL player may have been killed as revenge for an Internet scam, police said Tuesday.
Sekou Sakor and Ansu Keita were each shot in the head sometime Thursday night at a condominium in Woodbury, N.Y., owned by Jonathan Vilma. There were no arrests.
The New Orleans Saints linebacker and former New York Jets player was not there at the time and not believed to be involved, said New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne.
Browne said investigators believe the victims may have been mixed up in a so-called "black money" scheme. Victims are sent e-mails saying that cash smuggled from overseas — stained black to avoid detection — can be purchased at a discount; what they receive is a trunk full of worthless paper.
It was unclear how Sakor, 31, and Keita, 32, both originally from Liberia, ended up at Vilma's home. Sakor's body was found Friday dumped in Queens; that of Keita was found in Brooklyn.
Browne said various members of Vilma's family had access to the condominium, located in a gated development. It had been up for sale.
Vilma joined the Saints last season after four years with the Jets. He was the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2004.
His agent did not immediately return a call for comment on Tuesday
