FBI, navy destroyer surround 4 Somali pirates holding American hostage

Imagine the scene out on the high seas off the coast of Somalia: 4 exhausted pirates holding one American hostage in a small lifeboat bobbing in the waves surrounded by the FBI, a navy destroyer with the capabilities of taking out a small country, American warships, and a gaggle of media boats.

You’re probably thinking this hostage situation will be over by lunchtime. But these Somali pirates are used to the long haul. The last hostage crisis ended two months and $3.2 million in cash later.

In what will likely end up being a skit on SNL, one of the 4 pirates asked a Reuter’s writer to “Please pray for us.”

Barack Obowma still hasn’t released a statement on the matter. I realize this goes against his bowing and scraping inclinations, but Obama needs to step up and make a statement because this international incident is not playing out very well in our favor.

I heard on GMA that the hostage tried to escape. But, they got him before he could get ghost. This is sad, this sound like something from a book.

Actually Sandra, I figure Obama will be trying to reach out to the more ‘moderate’ thieving pirates to try to get this situation under control. You know, kind of how he tried to reach out to the ‘moderate’ Taliban members.

im happy at least the FBI is helping the navy with the hostage situation that he’s not alone, i dont think they will kill him with the navy right on their ass so while it may take awhile (last stand off lasted 2 months and they got 3.2 million dollars) if they really think US is gonna give them the ransom they smoking good over there, but its nothing obama can do

I wish the crew a safe release and return but I honestly think this will the very first time that a nation doesn’t pay ransom to them. Anyone following the issue for the past 4 years knows EVERY country whose ships were taken in Somalia paid ransom as was asked. This may play it out ‘anywhich way’.

Some of you really don’t watch the news do you? CNN did an entire segment on the bowing yesterday. CNN actually criticized Obowma for the first time. Jeannie Moss went into the streets with her laptop asking people their opinions on if it was a bow or not. Please get off the blogs and watch the news.

Actually Bush did do differently. after 9/11 he started a war on terror. Or maybe u forgot. But Obowma just changed Bush’s policy on enemy combatants stating that there are NO enemy combatants.
