Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader Wears Blackface for Halloween

A blond, blue eyed Dallas Cowboy cheerleader is in hot water after a photo she posted on her Facebook page showed her dressed up as rapper Lil Wayne, complete with dread locks and platinum, iced out grill.

When are people going to learn that you can’t put everything on the Internet unless you have nothing to lose?

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Whitney Isleib has inadvertently stepped into a Halloween controversy by reportedly dressing up as soon-to-be incarcerated rapper Lil’ Wayne in black-face.

Photos of the blonde-haired cheerleader turned hip-hop impresario were posted to Facebook and eventually made their way to sports blog Deadspin.com.

Offensive or just plain fun? Dallas fans are split.

“If she wasn’t a Dallas cheerleader would it really matter? It’s Halloween, you know. You get to go how you want to go” Cowboys fan Laura Pyhrr told CBS 11 Dallas at Sunday’s game.

He does have a point there. It was just a Halloween costume.

I don’t celebrate Halloween … I think though it can be cute for kids – not a fan of any adult in a costume or getup if they are not perfoming on a stage – JMHO!

From a business perspective, it’s because she is a Dallas Cheerleader that she should be reprimanded. She is considered a public figure, and represents a brand name on and off the clock.

Personally, I think she’d looks better with a paper sack on her head; b*tch look like she got beat with the stick!

it was not just a costume. blackface orgins go back to early minstrel shows in the late 1800′s after slavery. when blacks were being mocked for basically…as yt saw it… for being whiners about slavery. they way they saw it blacks had it good and had nothing to complain about.

blackface always has been and always will be a hurtful sign of our past. kinda like the confederate flag, the “n” word, and a plethora of other signs and symbols created and maintained by yt to “remind” us.

she does NOT get a pass.

Umm I don’t feel bad when white people get roasted for making stupid mistakes or missteps, about time the show is on the other foot.

That being said this dumb broad should lose her position. Post racial america indeed.

So we get to do anything we want for Halloween?

So if some of ur guys/men/husbands wanted to dress like a woman it would be ok?

I agree that using racism for every little thing hurts the cause in the long wrong but to me it doesn’t matter at all her reasoning. The history of blackface is unquestionable in its ugliness. Its at best insensitive. She deserves whats coming to her.

Could she not have gone as “white” Lil Wayne? Black face is not cool. A kid went to school dressed as Aunt Jemima, black face and syrup bottle in hand. He got suspended. I was ok with his costume but the black face was the no no.

I don’t think it’s a big deal. When we buy costumes for our children (Cinderella, Wonder Woman, etc), and it comes with a mask those masks are usually in skin tone of a caucasion person so I don’t see the difference. It’s not necessarily how she dressed up that should be questioned, it’s the content in which it was meant that matters.

What kills me is people use Halloween as an excuse to be racists etc bcuz they know people are going to say ‘ it was just for halloween’ even though their hidden agenda is to mock people.

    bk2atl says:

I don’t know if I feel like she was trying to be racist. Maybe, if she went as a “stereotypical black person” (i.e gold teeth, huge chains, etc.) I would have a problem with it. But, she went as an entertainer, who happens to be black and happens to dress the way she portrayed in her costume. She could have picked a YT entertainer, but she didn’t. Maybe if she had gone as a YT Lil Wayne, it would have been less offensive to some. I just don’t think (of course making this judgment without knowing her personally) that it was her intention to be offensive. Then again, I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt until they prove me wrong.

    eastpointvet says:

im not offended i dont think her intention was racial she was just trying to be as detailed as possible its even possible it was a prize cause some folks go all out for holloween so going as a white lil wayne wouldnt have completed the picture and at least she didnt go black like the minstrel show black face actually used the color black. do i think she should be fired for that nope

You do get to see some ppls true colors at Halloween. Didn’t one of Lady Di’s sons dress up as a Nazi/Hitler?

East, reading your comment I feel a little easier about it. You’re right it was actually BLACK face not brown. I never thought she should be fired maybe suspended or whatever they do for lesser infractions.

That is one of the reasons I love this blog.

she was dressed as someone very specific with very specific details; therefore, it’s more like a costume to me. they also had “mexicans” although i’m not sure if they were specific or not.

i agree w/dhoward in that, depending on the age, some of these folks just don’t know what is and is not offensive because much of this goes way back. people of all races love lil wayne.

She just didn’t exercise good judgement. I’m not offended, but on the flip side of that…some people don’t get offended when they see people in a Priest costume, a nun, I even saw Jesus. Draw the line somewhere people!!! That’s the point.

I go all out for Halloween but she was a terrible Lil Wayne. At least make it good. That was wack.

I dont think it was as serious as people make it out to be. IF she wore black makeup and was dressed as a crackhead or even some random black person then mayyyybe I could see the excitement. But she dressed as Lil Wayne. She was in costume. How come white people didnt make a stink when White Chicks came out? Or how about Eddie Murphy playing the white guy in the barber shop in Coming to America…or Jamie Foxx as the newscaster? Or even Dave Chappelle. We can’t be so one sided with our sensitivity but laugh it up the other way around.

I’m not in this chic’s head, so I don’t know if she racist or not….BUT it is absolutely INCONCEIVABLE that in 2009 WHITE ppl or any NON-BLACK person for that matter does not get that it is NOT OK to (#1) DRESS IN BLACK FACE!, (#2) SELL BLACK BABY DOLLS & CALL THEM LIL MONKEY!, OR (#3) SAY “NIGGA”! (I DON’T CARE HOW MANY BLACK FRIENDS YOU CLAIM TO HAVE!) The bish shoulda found a LIL Wayne mask if that was the case! NOW the Laura Pyhrr bish prilly IS racist tryna let Halloween be the reason….let it be the reason u get cho a$$ kicked!

MsPeng I would agree with you on this topic the hypocrisy of a lot of racism accusations. Blackface however is a little different. There is no historical connection to blacks doing whiteface. Like I said earlier its probably not racist but to me its insensitive.

Because there’s no such thing as “White Face”….if she had gone to the same extent as the ACTORS in the movies you mentioned & put on a mask, there would be a difference. Chances are she would have been appreciated for her creativity. Nothing creative about non-blacks smearing on Black Face…..I may seem “angry” about this but I’m not. I just agree w/ other posters who indicated it was in bad taste….aaaannnnnnnnnnnnd I wouldn’t have felt any PITY for her if the story ended w/ her gettin’ her a$$ kicked for doing it!

Because it was halloween we’re going to excuse this disrespectful act? Now if she did this at a regular costume party would people be outraged then?

Hello All. This is a difficult call. If it were the 60s, I would be very offended but it is 2009 and Halloween and she was in costume. Us black folks get so upset about trivial things. I know about the history of black face but this is far from that. What we need to complain about is all these welfare mothers who aren’t taking care of all these babies and continue to have them! We need to complain about is the existence of the KKK, the largest domestic terrorist organization in the nation. (Let’s do away with the KKK.) We need to complain about all-white juries, who have a tendency of sending our young black men to jail far quicker and far longer than their white counterparts. We need to complain about what we call music today. Hell, I could go on and on but a white Dallas cheerleader in blackface, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Next.

I watch the DCC tryouts and that coach is going to suspend or fire her. She really doesn’t play.

I don’t think black face in any for for any reason is o.k. When you wear a mask for a costume you have no control over what color it is so….if this was a LiL Wayne mask that was black…o.k but it wasn’t.

  46. 46

I’m not really offended. At first I thought she went as a hoodrat – but she went as a very popular hip-hop artist. I seen a dude on Halloween also dressed as lil Wayne but he wisely left the facepaint at home…

I don’t know about any one else but when I buy costumes for my child she never wears a YT face. If she is Cinderella she might wear the clothes but its going to be her face, so that might be something that you do with your kids, but everybody don’t do that.
