Stars Come Out for SOS Haiti Telethon/Concert

Monica, Akon, Keri Hilson, Queen Latifah, Mary J Blige, Ludacris, LL Cool J, Mike Tyson, Pharrell Williams, Pete Wentz, and others took the stage at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida to urge hip-hop and R&B fans watching live on BET to donate much-needed cash to Haiti tonight.

The people of Port au Prince, Haiti are still recovering from a 7.0-magnitude earthquake that rocked the tiny island nation Jan. 12.

Diddy told the audience and viewers across America he felt “extremely proud” to be part of the event.
Damian Marley, Justin Bieber, Nas, Mary J. Blige, former U.S. President Bill Clinton and rapper Lil Wayne – in what will be his last public appearance before starting a year-long jail sentence – were also billed to take part in the two-hour fundraiser, which aired live on many U.S. TV networks.

The event was hastily organised to benefit charities including Wyclef Jean’s Yele Haiti foundation, as well as CARE, Project Medishare and Children’s Safe Drinking Water.

I enjoyed the telethon…I preferred it to the George Clooney one because it was more upbeat and fun. That other one was just sad as hell.

Considering all the negative press that the Christian liberals (not calling names) have been saying about the Haitians, that the earthquake was retribution for a pact that was made with the devil back in Napoleon days 200 plus years ago, how ignorant does that sound? That was such a vile statement and people were riding on this type of ignorance. Even some of the Africans Americans churches jumped on this and showing their ignorance by repeating this shyt. I think that everybody that cares about the cause for Haiti would understand exactly what the shirt means. A five year-old can tell you what the shirt means as they to know the definition of the word “hate”. If you read the newspapers or the internet news sites and read some the vile comments that were said about the Haitians from ignorant people you too, would understand the concept of the T-shirt.

Chris is a forward thinker; he knows exactly what the shirt means as he has been on the receiving end of malicious hate. One day the hearts will soften toward Chris and the name calling will end, but will you critics apologize? I didn’t think so.

dont hate on haiti, as in the comments the preacher guy made about the country? the comments the ESPN person stated (some of which I agreed with, but not all)? those could be some of things CB heard about so he put on that Tshirt.

I thought BET could’ve used a bit more professionalism when organizing this event. How come some stars decked out in designer clothing were standing up taking, no chairs for them to set on, while taking calls from the viewers?
Leave it up to BET to half step with any type of project they partake in.

The performances were great. Wyclef got a bit annoying towards the end.

The natives of Haiti are experiencing devastation on every level. I feel that if our country doesn’t get it together soon we may be seeing some devastating times as well. Our country’s deficit is steadily climbing and our unemployment rate is at an all time high. The president is having a tough time sorting out this mess the greedy congressionalist have put our people in and I’m wondering who will run to our aide?

I swear people love to nick pick every little thing this young man does/says. The shirt is talking about the people who feel the need to make negative comments about the haitian people and the conspiracy theories of why the earthquake happened.

Even to go so far as to blame the haitian people. The way that pat robertson did which sparked controversy. If any other celeb wore this shirt it would have been no big deal and infact very forward thinking. But sense its Chris Brown people want to play dumb and act like they dont know what the damn shirt means just to bash the young man.
