Teen who was whipped by his uncle for being a gangbanger on Facebook shot dead
A young man featured in a viral video being harshly disciplining by his uncle for being a gangbanger, was shot dead near his home.
16-year-old Michael Taylor became something of an internet sensation when his uncle whipped him with a belt for lying about his gang affiliations — and uploaded the video to Facebook. But even though the uncle’s intentions were good, Taylor met a violent end when he was found shot to death last week in his Terrytown neighborhood.
According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office said Michael Taylor, 16, was found shot to death shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7 when deputies responded to a report of gunshots in the area.
In the YouTube video, posted in January, Taylor’s uncle ordered him to disavow any ties to gangs, announced that the family “don’t come from that sh–,” and then proceeded to take off his belt and spank Taylor in full view of the laptop camera.
Rappers Lil Wayne and Birdman spoofed the video, as did another video site called StuntKidzTV.

I was raised by a single mother. I never ended up in a gang, in jail, selling or using drugs. I went to college and have various degrees. That single mother comment is not even relevant. What was the point you were trying to make?

We. don’t what we will do until it happen. As a mother, it would KILL me if my son was in a gang. Hubby would probably kill our son. This uncle did what he thought was best. He may have felt if he old enough to be in a gang he old enough to get stomped. This wasn’t a five year old, this boy was big as him. So unfortunate. No disrespect to NO fan, but it’s tough out there. As it is every where else to be honest.

Second, communication isn’t defined by race, culture etc. There are a number of people who don’t know how to communicate and that’s a personal issue.
Third, a person’s negative actions SHOULD NOT be associated with single motherhood. Thats bullchit and it boils my blood when people say that. Parents can only provide so much guidance, knowledge etc. to a child before they fully enter this harsh world. When someone is successful, you don’t see people saying “Oh, thats a product of single mothers” do you? So why is it ok to utter such dumbazz comments when something bad happens??

My comment was finished. There are children who come from stable homes on join gangs, commit felonies, etc. The fact is we have to stop on top of our youth. It seems that’s what the uncle was trying to do. He saw a FB post and he addressed it. There are PLENTY of two-parent homes that are unstable. What kids need are mentors all around. Good parents, good teachers that don’t mind working past 3:30, that will come to the games if they know a father is MIA, in jail. or deployed. Yes, it starts at home, but kids need to see different role models from all around. Doctors, lawyers, teachers, etc. It was a kid on Scared straight who had BOTH parents, dad seemed A-Okay, but this bamma said his inspiration was Lil Boosie. O_o

I know a girl that happened to. My frineds college classmate got a text her brother was shot because her family kept calling her in class and she couldn’t answer. They then sent her a text he was dead. She started screaming and hyperventilating in class. It was tragic to see.

The operative word is “maybe” is not foool proof. I’m sure there are several gang members who have active fathers. Several prostitutes who had active fathers.
Ultimately it’s about choices we make and the consequences that follow
