The former roommate of a slain Atlanta police officer was arrested Tuesday, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports. Danielle Alexis Parker, 30, (pictured right) was taken into custody Tuesday evening by U.S. Marshals and Fulton County police. The AJC reports that Parker will be formerly charged in the murder of Corporal Crystal Adele Parker, 34, whose body was found in her East Point (Atlanta) home Sunday night. Cpl. Parker was shot once in the head, according to a coroner’s report obtained by the AJC.
Crystal Parker was a six-year employee with the East Point Police Department. She was voted the city’s 2012 Officer of the Year, and her personnel file was full of accolades. Danielle Parker had recently moved out of the home she shared with her former lover. Police say the officer’s home was burglarized 2 weeks ago. Cash, jewelry and an Xbox Kinect were taken in the robbery. No charges were filed in the burglary. Cpl. Parker’s father, Joseph Parker, said he didn’t know Danielle Parker well enough to comment on the investigation.
A police spokesman said he didn’t know the nature of the women’s relationship. But according to rumors on social media websites, Danielle and Crystal Parker were married.
“She was a kind person, very loving human being,” Joseph Parker said of his daughter. “She was a smart girl. She was talking about going back to college and continuing in her field.”
