Serena Williams Loses Quest for Grand Slam

In only her 3rd loss of 2015, Serena Williams lost to Roberta Vinci in a semi-final match in the U.S. Open at Arthur Ashe Stadium today.

After losing the first set to Serena 2-6, Vinci rallied to take the next 2 sets 6-4, 6-4.

Vinci lost to Serena in four previous meetings. The shocking loss ended Serena’s hopes of winning the elusive Grand Slam of tennis.

Serena previously won 3 Grand Slam titles in 2015: Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon.

The only tennis player (male or female) to win all 4 Grand Slam titles in a single calendar year was Steffi Graf in 1988.

Congratulations on making it so far – she has nothing to feel bad about – she did her best she gave it her all the better player won… nothing to be mad at here – I really wanted her to win though… actually I wanted Venus to win the other day but when she didn’t all my hopes rested with Serena… no worries though she on top of her game I don’t doubt she will accomplish the goal next time around…

Yes, I was at work and I heard about her play. I was prepared to sell my tickets, but as a true tennis fan, I look forward to seeing her play. Serena has completed the Serena Slam, just not all in a calendar year. Now she can start the quest all over again. It gives me something to look forward to. Love Serena and what she and Venus, along with Billie Jean King, have done for tennis. Tennis is the only sport where men and women make the same money. Go SERENA!!!!!!!!

Yeah cause the women bring out the same crowds as the men. Women don’t really play basketball as hard as the men. If they did they would bring out the same crowd. It was Venus that brought up the pay issue in which the committee felt she was right about not being paid equally as the men. They play just as hard as the men in tennis.
