Kenya Moore, Marc Daly

Kenya Moore delivered her baby daughter prematurely by cesarean section on Sunday, Nov. 4, according to published reports. The baby was conceived by in vitro fertilization.

The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star and her husband, restauranteur Marc Daly, named their baby girl Brooklyn Doris Daly.

Moore explained the inspiration behind her firstborn child's name.

"Brooklyn because that’s where we met and fell in love, and Doris after my grandmother who passed away last year and who raised me," Moore tells PEOPLE.

The reality TV star was rushed to the hospital last week following her diagnosis.

The baby was delivered early after Moore, 47, was diagnosed with preeclampsia, a potentially dangerous pregnancy complication that is characterized by high blood pressure, severe headaches and excess protein spilled into the urine.

Preeclampsia worsens when the body tries to reject the placenta as a foreign object. Treatment is to deliver the baby early to save the lives of both the mother and her baby.

Moore revealed her diagnosis in an Instagram post on Oct. 27. "This is NOT normal," the former Miss USA captioned a photo of her swollen feet. She added that she gained 17 lbs. of water in one week.

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

    Congrats! I remember when she was on the radio talking about having a baby years ago and it happened

  • Robert lee Bennett OG

    Why would someone risk having a retarded baby (due to her age)just to secure a spot on a show?

  • cherrypie

    I'm really happy for Kenya. She was always my favorite. I'm glad she was able to find the love of her life and experience pregnancy and now motherhood. I'll never forget when she went to her "mother's" house with cameras and all asking why her mother never wanted her and her "mother" just slammed the door in her face. She had complications with her pregnancy but God saw fit to bring her and her baby out healthy and strong.

  • Dowoop

    Your mama took the risk of having you didn't she... BIG mistake might I add.

  • Coy little wink

    Someone risked having you...shyt still happened tho

  • Coy little wink

    Jinx!

  • Coy little wink

    CONGRATS!

    they are a handsome couple I know that baby is gorgeous with a head full of hair!

  • HalleMerry

    This may be an unpopular or politically incorrect thing to say,but IMO it is SELFISH to have children so late.Not only will your pregnancy be high risk,you and your child are at an increased risk for complications..Science is great and all,but God didn't allow it naturally for a reason. Also,its highly likely that your child will be burying both parents in her mid 20's-30's...Selfish

  • Bashi22

    Happy Beautiful Baby Kenya

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

    Not trying to be funny but it’s kids that bury they 30 year old parents. What god has for u he has

  • xenaD

    Damn.

  • Robert lee Bennett OG

    You have jokes and insults but this shows how narcissistic that woman is

  • Coy little wink

    I think anyone willing to be a parent should be one...tomorrow is not promised to anyone...life is for living there is no perfect blueprint for life

  • xenaD

    Well I had it at 27, so yeah & another family member at 30 something

  • Alicia.Ashe

    Congrats ????

  • Coy little wink

    But she's not on the show so what are you talking about?

  • Robert lee Bennett OG

    It’s awful isn’t it

  • sherri2016

    I had Preeclampsia with my first child that I had at 17 and my second that I had at 20 and my last child at 28 it can happen at any age all 3 were premature but are completely healthy

  • Robert lee Bennett OG

    I totally agree

  • Kanyade

    congrats to them.

  • A.P. Millz-CT

    STFU!

  • KcoolMuziq

    I always wondered how my girl Janet's pregnancy really went. It had to be difficult for her. But she seem to go full term.

    Anywho congrats to Kenya & her husband. I wonder will her daughter inherit her long luxurious hair and beautiful hazel eyes.

  • Mrs. King

    So Janet Jackson and Halle Berry r narcissistic as well.

  • SG

    I know several women who naturally had babies at age 40 and later. My cousin’s baby mama can’t bit more afford in vitro and she gave birth to her 6th child at 45.

  • Victorious82

    Hopefully that is all she inherits. The positive aspects of her mom lol.

  • Rayne

    Congratulations beautiful! That’s gonna be one spoiled shuga momma!

  • HalleMerry

    Use your words,dear?

  • Ajavee

    I wish I could like your comment a million times.

    This part ^5
    no perfect blueprint...life changes in the blink of an eye for everyone at some point...nothing is guaranteed

  • Rayne

    Welp there goes the neighborhood ? cause I was pregnant at 38 had him st 39. I wasn’t ready to have kids at 17-35. I was too busy shopping and stamping this passport. Having a baby later in life is perfect. You’re more...mature and able to sit and actually teach kids the right way. But ok ?

  • Coy little wink

    Thanks ? my work is done

    LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

  • HalleMerry

    While your delivery is rude,age 45 is the HIGHEST age at which your child will have Down's syndrome and other birth defects..it's 1 in every 35 births at that age. Not saying that those children don't deserve to be loved because they all do,but it's still selfish to take those risks.That R word is unnecessary,and I really don't think she did it for the show,she just wanted to be a Mom.

  • Passion

    Wow ?!

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1lo6u-UIbo Nancy Drew-Natural & Luv’n It!

    you really believe that was THE motivating factor for this woman?

  • HalleMerry

    It tapers down slightly up until 50...still,I wouldn't have risked it but to each their own.

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1lo6u-UIbo Nancy Drew-Natural & Luv’n It!

    *cackles*

  • Robert lee Bennett OG

    Totally and you can add gold digger and child thief to Janet resume

  • HalleMerry

    Had you presented your statement better,someone might have actually listened.

  • Robert lee Bennett OG

    Of course

  • TxCyn

    Standing ovation. Say it louder for the ones in the back. It’s too early for this type of foolishness.

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1lo6u-UIbo Nancy Drew-Natural & Luv’n It!

    it's a legit concern, but the heart wants what it wants. i won't condemn a woman for truly desiring a child, or for wanting to wait until she could bring that child into a stable family unit. (this is NOT a dig at single moms; just saying that not every woman is strong enough to do it on her own, but brava to all the sisters who have done it successfully, either by choice or out of necessity).

    (oh, and your comment tickled me, considering your avi pic, Lol!)

  • Quitedeliteful

  • Quitedeliteful

    I know of two women who had babies - healthy babies in their fifties. One is a Kenyan woman who had her last baby at 54. The other is a woman who was surprised to find out that she was pregnant at 52. Both babies were born healthy. I don't know if the moms had difficult pregnancies but the babies came out just fine...

  • HalleMerry

    Congrats! But,that's an 8 year difference and it was natural(I assume).I just trust Nature(God) with births,not science..I work in healthcare,I see the effects of messing with What's natural. Yes,science has allowed some beautiful things to happen,but I'll just stick to my unpopular opinion;to leave reproduction as nature intended.

  • Floriduhh Evans

    So happy for Kenya and her new family....thankful to The Most High for bringing them both thru ??

  • Y me?

    Sandra i know this isn't a medical blog, but why do you go out of your way to inply that Kenya's pregnancy/baby are in some extreme danger? At her age pregnancy is high risk, but once the fetus passes the 34 week mark it has outcomes almost equivalent to a full term baby. Kenya has the best medical care money can buy. Do you dislike her? Are u against older women giving birth? U really want to place undue panic on this woman

  • Alextra Ballard

    Congrats to Kenya and her Husband. Hoping their new bundle bring them joy and happiness.

  • SpillyNillie

    Give me hope then, Rayne! I have a 12 yr old but would like another child before 40; but I'm approaching 36...

  • Quitedeliteful

    her "mother" just slammed the door in her face.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Her birth mother slammed the door in her face??? WOW....
  • SpillyNillie
    Glad to hear that Kenya and Baby Brooklyn are well. Congrats!!
  • HalleMerry
    Indeed! Thanks for your intellectual comment...Ah yes,My Love of Halle????????? The Hypocrisy shines lol
  • Coy little wink
    Wow!
  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose
    I don't dislike Kenya (although she heard she's not nice). High risk pregnancies are high risk due to the age of the eggs and the age of the mother. Women are designed to begin conceiving at the onset of menstruation. That means the ideal age for pregnancies are the teen years and 20s. A woman should ideally give birth to her last child before age 30.
  • HalleMerry
    Interesting..And cool.If y'all got pregnant at 52,what would you do?
  • Trace da Ace
    Well congrats to Kenya and her baby girl!!!
  • cherrypie
    Yessss Coy!!! God dont make no mistatkes. If that that baby wasnt meant to be here, she would not be here. Periodt!
  • Miss Thang
    Now, that is a handsome couple. Beautiful melanin goodness:) Congrats to them on the delivery of their bundle of joy!
  • Yoni7
    Beautiful couple. Almighty bless their child.
  • Coy little wink
    I would consider it a blessing especially since it's such a rare occurrence
  • Miss Thang
    My sister in law was a late-in-life baby. When I went to a cook out and met all these women I thought were her AUNTS, she told me, no these are my SISTERS. I was in shock! Then she explained to me that her mother had her when she was 50. Completely naturally. Her mother did die when she was in her late 20's, but shoot, my dad died when I was 8 and he got cancer at a young age. Life happens. and Death can happen at any age too.
  • Lady_Elle
    Congratulations to Kenya & Her husband.
    I am happy that both mom and baby seem to be doing well!
    Kenya wanted a baby for a long time...
    She will learn what UNCONDITIONAL LOVE is. :-)
  • Miss Thang
    Accept it, be grateful, and get a new lease on life to be the best mother I could possibly be.
  • Miss Thang
    I agree that older parents are more emotionally stable and patient enough to actually raise their children the right way.
  • Miss Thang
    yes, I can't imagine how painful that must have been for Kenya.
  • Coy little wink
    A new lease on life ?
  • Miss Thang
    lol All I saw was "This user is blocked".
    ya'll gonna learn to block these trolls.
  • Quitedeliteful
    If they assured me the baby was healthy, I'd have it..
  • Robert lee Bennett OG
    Excuse me?
  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1lo6u-UIbo Nancy Drew-Natural & Luv’n It!
    awww.... bless you!
  • AntB
    Sorry Ms Rose. I think you are wrong about a woman should give birth before age 30? Really?! God allowed Sarah to give birth at age 90/91 and I don't think God would allow a woman to have a menstrual cycle after age 30 if he didnt want her to still be able to have kids. That's your opinion but I do not agree with it!
  • Rayne
    Yes girl! My patience is bomb now. If I was younger with a baby .....ION KNOW ????
  • Skin Deep Beauty
    Babies feed of the the Placenta for nourishment but suffer from the garbage craving the mommas eat!
  • imright
    i bet baby Daly is so cute. hope she lets “us” see her !
  • Rayne
    Go ahead! Sprinkles baby dust all over you ?. I pray you’ll be very pregnant soon pregnant ? good luck and congratulations ? early!
  • Rayne
    Yes it was very natural. Lol I didn’t know I was even pregnant ? my husband told me and we took 14 pregnancy tests (cause I told him they all were defective ???) no epidural and it didn’t even hurt. Two pushes and he was out. Lmao he didn’t even cry.? came out sneezing ????????
  • Bee jaay Cee
    Naw, She's right. My daughter gave birth for the first time in her late thirties, sister, the same thing, and one cousin at 40. My mom had my baby sis at 40. They all had problems and my sis was even put on bed rest. My daughter had preemclamsia and was also put on bedrest. Sandy is an ex nurse. So do you think she just made all of this up?
  • IChosetheBrownDollbaby
    Shut up NeNe!
  • Connie
    I'm so happy for Kenya. Congrats to her and hubby. Can't wait to see the lil bambina. Didn't Sandra post the other day she was having a boy and I said...umm..no?
  • itsjismemelly
    i truly wish the very best for her her baby and her husband
  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil
    I’m 35 and I’m having my babies after 35 eventually! Just wish me luck!
  • speakinmymind
    Ok Sandra...we get it, you're against what are considered late age pregnancies conceived in vitro.
  • Meme
    Big congratulations to the beautiful Kenya and her husband, what an inspiration she is that you will get your happy ever after i cant wait to see the baby, God is good ALWAYS!!!!
  • Meme
    Heeeheeehee hillybilly kim must be seething, that was the only thing she tried to insult Kenya with and now Kenya got a hubby and baby in the blink of an eye, i wonder what they'll try and insult beautiful Kenya with now...Team Twirl!!!!
  • Meme
    Tell the truth shame the devil you dislike Kenya intensely and cant help at every given opportunity to fling some muck her way! Shes truly blessed and its hurting some people!!!!
  • Zeta Phi Beta 1920
    May they both fare well, in Jesus name.
  • Zeta Phi Beta 1920
    Team Twirl.
  • Karmen
    Amen
  • Judge Mental Will
    Good for her on a healthy baby and almost being 70 years old at her baby high school graduation.
  • Karen Brady
    I didn't know she did in vitro.
  • Nina Ross
    Congratulations!!
  • Guess Who
    Did Kenya herself say that she did in-vitro or did a legit source in the medical field tell you this, Sandra? If so, please give the person's name as I would like to ask the hospital/clinic/doctor's office's HR department where this person works if their expectation is that all employees abide by the federally mandated HIPAA and PHI laws. If Kenya herself said it, when and where?
    At any rate, congratulations to Kenya and family.
  • Guess Who
    Me neither and I would love to see a link so I can read where Kenya said that.
    I know she's damn near 50 but not all women in that age group NEED to do in vitro....
  • ClaireHuxtable
    True. Only God decides who comes...who goes and when.
  • ClaireHuxtable
    Since kids keep you young it's quite likely that Kenya could live to be 92. Due to medical advances people are living longer, so I wish them the best.
    I would rather have had my Mom for a short time than to not have known her at all.
  • ClaireHuxtable
    and Amen!
  • cleopatra04
    Congrats, Kenya!!!
  • Skylar1
    Wonder will she be a wonderful loving mother or continue her old problematic ways
    Prayers and blessings. Wishing her family all the love and blessings
  • Rhyme and Reason
    Life has no guarantees, many young mothers don't get to see their kids graduate anything!
    But, I get your point, she will be well into her senior years, but she'll probably look like she's 50 and hopefully, stay healthy (she surely works at it), which can be a feat at any age!
  • disqus_DxKO3ThTGI
    She said it several times that she froze her eggs in her early 40's. Its on her instagram and several bloggers have it on their you tube channels.
  • Judge Mental Will
    I know.. i was just taking a dig at her lol
  • Guess Who
    Thanks. I never knew she said she froze eggs...but did she say THIS pregnancy was a result of using those eggs or did Mark have extra strong skeet swimming at the speed of a cheetah?
  • parisjok
    cray cray u will need all the help u can get and more more more
  • parisjok
    at her age pregnancy is more than life high risk but she has more of a much higher percentage of passing away from this action. much much more stuff is involved behind the scenes that the public don't know about. so happy it looks like all are safe and happy and healthy. she was extremely brave to go thru this
  • http://sandrarose.com SandraRose
    Ex nothing. Sandy is a currently licensed RN in the state of Georgia.
  • Bee jaay Cee
    Well shut my mouth. I guess you told me!
    I wasn’t sure.
