Were you wondering whatever happened to hitmaker NE-YO? Well, he's back and ready for the holiday season with 5 newly-penned Christmas songs. The 3-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter celebrates the joyous season by releasing his first Christmas album, titled Another Kind Of Christmas (Motown Records/Compound Entertainment).
The album song list includes "Just Ain't Christmas" which NE-YO says captures the pain of a Christmas Eve break-up, while the playful double entendres of "Open Mine Tonight" explains what goes down after the kids go to bed.
The festive album also includes Christmas standards by superstar Stevie Wonder and the late singers Marvin Gaye, Donny Hathaway and Nat King Cole. Other collaborators include Candice Boyd, Satori, Dre Island, And RaVaughn.
NE-YO, a 39-year-old Libra, reimagined versions of Christmas classics – including "Someday At Christmas," a plea for peace written for Stevie Wonder during the Vietnam War. The song was covered by The Jackson 5 on their Motown Christmas album.
NE-YO also covers Marvin Gaye's "I Want To Come Home For Christmas," that was inspired by the plight of prisoners of war.
NE-YO says, of the album "See you this Holiday season and every holiday season after! Think you're gonna love it that much!"
